Love 'em? Hate 'em?

I would guess that they'd probably buy it from whichever company offers the best price and best financing. Aside from that, I think it would be cool to see a new MPI MP36 in Amtrak paint. :) Realistically, they'd probably order more Genesises, since that's what they're using now. Perhaps they'd have...

One of the major reasons they changed the name was because they had no choice. They needed to form a new company, because "Bangor & Aroostook" was bankrupt and had no credit (and you can blame Iron Road Railways for that). In order to get credit, they needed to create a new company, an...

If they're going to go in and destroy all of the BAR's sense of identity.... OK, I have to speak up because that just isn't true. The folks at MM&A have gone out of their way to make sure that BAR's history and identity are not lost. For instance, the MM&A logo is very similar to the old BA...

From what I've been able to gather, they'll probably be using some of the ex-LTV RS11s that they recently purchased. "Which ones and when will we see them?" Good question. We'll just have to wait and see I guess. :)

Not a GP9, but GP7R ST 12 was working in Wells a month or two ago. It looked and sounded fantastic.

ST 45 was at South Portland a week or two ago.

It has been said that some hoggers aren't particularly fond of the "wide cab" units for switching, due to slightly decreased forward visibility. I would think that the visibility wouldn't be any worse (and is probably better) than any of the high-nose units. And speaking of high-nose units...

"Delayed" is putting it nicely. Guilford fought for over ten years to prevent Amtrak from runnning trains to Maine. Eventually we won and were able to get the service going, but we're still fighting over track speed, despite the fact that the Federal Railroad Administration has deemed the ...

The Bangor & Aroostook went bankrupt a couple years ago, and was bought by Ed Burkhardt, former head of Wisconsin Central. He renamed it Montreal, Maine & Atlantic Railway.

It has been known as the MM&A for well over a year now.

Shouldn't the title of this forum be Montreal, Maine & Atlantic? Bangor & Aroostook does not exist anymore.

Guilford activity in Wells, Maine

MEC 509 (GP40-2W) was working in Wells late this morning. They pulled an empty out of the Shaw's Distribution Center, pulled a few empties out of Spencer Press, and then pushed a few loads into Spencer. They headed back east shortly after Amtrak 681 went by. They had a load of wood, a tank, a hopper...
