From the December 1951 issue of the Official Guide of the Railways, here is the passenger schedule for the Sound Shore Branch. "Imgur is temporarily over capacity. Please try again later." So here is a link to the image, much larger than I would have been able to upload: http://www.irwinsj...

Back in February we rode the Lehigh Gorge Scenic as an add-on to the Reading, Blue Mountain and Northern round trip from Reading Outer Station to Jim Thorpe and back. Walkers, hikers and bikers are <right next to> the track at many points.

AceMack, I was already gone from NJ in 1989, so the best I can do is venture a guess that it was some kind of "Trackmobile" which switched small cuts of cars around for one of the larger industries. That would have been on the north (Linden) side of the Rahway River, right? Ken... 1905! I ...

On further review, thinking about the orientation of the Sound Shore and the New Jersey Terminal, I think that FMC was actually serviced from the NJ Terminal. If I am orienting things correctly, the Sound Shore ROW now sits under the Carteret Industrial Road, while the line that goes through FMC is ...

Found it... the RMC issue you would want to look for is June 1951. I hadn't looked at it for a while. I should note that I lived in Carteret for 20 years, from 1969 to 1989. Yes, there was a hand operated draw bridge just about at the mouth of the Rahway River on the Sound Shore Branch, complete wit...

The article "Rule Ninety Three" in a 1950s issue of Railroad Model Craftsman was all about the Sound Shore Branch. I need to dig through the archives to locate the exact issue date.

Over "on another network" someone asked about the Railfest Ohio Train Show, scheduled for March 18 and 19, 2023... https://www.railfest.org/ Probably a long shot (and this is the closest forum match here), but does anyone have any feedback on this show? One key question is how far you'd dr...

It's been a while for me too but I believe your description of 7th Avenue is correct. "Back in the day" (actually, back in the Previous Century) a change at 7th was one of my choices to get from Columbus Circle to the Port Authority to make my bus back to Jersey after night school, using t...

Naugy, I know Pine Plains is a bit of a haul from the Greater Toronto Area, but the "Greater Toronto Train Show" has been a place to find OO models. One of my friends was looking for a Mallard and I had several from which to choose, for example. (Given my affection for "NCIS" it ...

Sunday 11/27 - Rochester - TTCS Rochester Thanksgiving Show. (source on this incorrectly shows 28th as date - that's a Monday) I'm told that if there was a show, it wasn't at the previous location of the Diplomat Party House. That building is shut down with an "Asbestos" notice on the fro...

A little late with this report: the Hemlock Show had considerably more vendors than last year. I was there on Sunday (before the Bills/Dolphins fiasco) and attendance looked brisk. I was told that Saturday went well. Also, RIT Tiger Tracks website is updated to officially note "As of 8/23/2022 ...

Not models per se but there is a firm called "K4Decals" that makes sets for the powder blue A&A boxcars, in multiple scales from G to Z. Having just seen the boxcar painted ARA 510 at Williamsville Station, I might try my hand at creating one or two in N Scale. The Intermountain boxcar...

That's a bummer. We would make a stop there if our travels intersected with their hours. I wonder if it's another case of "no one to take it over."

If the copyright were more recent, the end would be "87 people post about it on Facebook" (ducking)
