I too am seeking information on this operation, as well as the Navajo Mine Railroad operation. Fortunately for you, just using Google will help you a great deal with researching the BM&P. I've seen photos and videos on Facebook and YouTube which help with scouting out photo/video locations. I re...

Update: Uh, I just checked CheapOair.com and found a United flight from Newark Liberty to Bangor for $166!! Flight time is about 1-1/2 hours. I think it's a no-brainer. As much as I like trains, does it make sense to spend 10 or 12 hours in travel when I can get there in 1-1/2 hours? Edit: That far...

If you drive up you could go to either Braintree or Quincy Center for parking garages, and then take the bus from Quincy to Mattapan or Ashmont. Spend time riding and photographing the line, and then head into South station (or JFK) to catch the Red Line Braintree train back to your car. Mattapan wa...

CSX no longer allows "top and trailing" locos on each end of a local freight, due to an accident on the NEC with a trailing loco. What was the incident you reference. I vaguely remember the new rule of now locomotive on rear unless it is manned, but I thought it stemmed from some sort of i...

Yes. The Framingham Secondary begins right where it splits off the Amtrak NEC at Mansfield interlocking.

Just relax, take a deep breathe and be yourself.

People on interview panels do this often, and they usually can read people very well.

Still want to complain about the fixed seats and the fact that half the passengers will be forced to ride backwards at 160 mph! Everybody is going to have to make HUGE adjustments with the new trains, both passengers and crews. Unfortunately, Amtrak is buying these "off the shelf" and bas...

Visited the north end of the MBTA-owned line at Milford, MA on Thursday 1/17/19 and saw that the MBTA has installed a new turnout about halfway between Depot St and S Cedar St (the crossing in the distance. Formerly the old turnout stub that used to connect to G&U was 50-100 yards south of S Ce...

I remember Bubba straight out saying: "If I could find somebody to service the industrial parks in Mansfield with a track mobile and just have FR35 shove loads in, I WOULD!"

Can't be shy on the railroad! ESPECIALLY working as an AC on passenger trains.

It's so depressing seeing all of this business decline or just disappear. It really sucks because right before I left there were a few customers beginning to get rail in the area. Now it seems like a steady decline, which is what some local management wanted anyway.

Just curious if Ticket Collector title still exists at NJT? If so, do they hire for those slots or is it a grandfathered title? No. That would be under the title of Assistant Conductor. Thanks for the info. How about rear brakeman, is that a separate title distinct from assistant conductor? Brakeme...

You'll never have to worry about furloughs as a trainman. A benefit to coming over as an Asst Conductor is you can go anywhere without needing to be qualified on physical characteristics, as long as you have the proper book of rules. Also, there are more ac positions in general.
