The Dolly sisters at Naporano
If I'm correct they were scrapped in May.
I have two dimentioned Alco drawings from 1966 of a c-425 (well?) and a side-only of a C-415, only it has switcher trucks... There was a drawing in a 1980's RMC that I have somewhere.
315 was sold to VLIX (Ed Bowers) in June 2004. Supposedly it was shipped to the Southern Appalachia Railway Museum... I don't think it was anywhere near servicable when it left KB&S. John, can you help us out here?
one must keep that in mind when dealing with a open public forum such as this one so as to not offend anyone. Ave Satana! Just kidding, but seriously... how exactly is that offensive to people, especially the usually easy-going railfan (crazy_nip exempt)- we put up with UP but don't find their pres...
So how did the HiAds or blunts ride in comparison?
Well parts and such come to mind. They might have just been worn out. The C628s were traded for credit on those new Dash-8s. Quite an honor for an Alco in an odd way.
Okay, I noticed I did not transistion well. Things happen. I belive the wheelbase on the RSD4/5 trmount trucks was the same as on the later types. But notice the slight difference in frame design on single-cylinder designs (which were also applied on the RSD7?). On some early RSDs, the inside drop e...
Three orders? I can think of LV, Monon, L&N, SP, N&W, PRR, and D&H off the top of my head.... Pay attention, I referenced only 3000 hp units in my post (GP40, U30B) and the mention of demos should have made it obvious that I was referring to the C430! Were the trucks under the RSD-12's ...
Keep in mind the C628 was a not exactly the most reliable machine out there. Yes, wheel slip was a common issue at the time. I'm surprized that even with the success of the U30B and GP40, that Alco could only draw 3 orders, even with the demonstrators.
Well, there are 5 C425s. I know there are some switchers around, many have probobly been converted into zombies if they didnt wind up on a shortline or industry. I offhand, the Alexander RR picked up an S-3.
I was never told the story of those C-liner trucks...
Whats up with this third C-628?
Post on loconotes says that both Alcos are in the shop less traction motors
What exactly does the 251Plus kit consist of?
I recall hearing earlier this year that there were four six-axle Alcos stored at some railroad's shop, one of which was an ex-BC Rail M630W. From what has been gathered: Existing: Cementos Portland Nacional 2, RS11 FNM 8611, M630 Las Encinas 801, RS2 API Manzanillo S6, direlict TAMSA 90-019, S6 TAMS...
