So you would like to volunteer at Railroad Museum or Tourist Railroad, and get paid something while doing so to get Engineer License part time. If it can or could happen it may take a few years to achieve doing so. I'm sure training to get a license ain't cheap on their end either, or U may have pay...

The white stars don't change its just tell the engineer its their first governing signal. All the pot signals or dwarf signals they are all absolute signals...they are all restricting signals with in the Lake St. Red= stop...Yellow= restricting approach...Green=restricting clear. There are no lunar ...

Its called a starting signal. It basically tells the engineer that its the first governing signal leaving out of OTC. Theres also a white star on the back of the signal head for when trains are beyond the signal the Engineer can look back if the star is light up you can proceed to the next signal af...

Well in hindsight it would have been wise to do a little research on these Railroad Academy's. This forum along with several others on the internet would have giving a lot of info on the various schools. Some have had success others ended up in the same boat you find yourself in. If you were to end ...

There is no perfect answer to your questions. It could be few days! A couple of weeks, or a month or more before you may hear something. For me it was within a week or 2. Heck in some cases they can cancel a hire session only to come back a week later with another advertisement for jobs in the same ...

Both IDOT and UP agreed to share the cost of around 90 million. (Personally the seems a little on the low side for the cost.) That will close both gaps it was in the papers a couple of weeks back. No starts date, but some preliminary work was done few yrs back for testing of the bridge supports over...

You should expect to be bumped around especially in your early yrs with the railroad cause your seniority will be low. I have 15yr of seniority and I still get bumped on occasion so get used to it. You need to keep in mind that Salem Il is part of the St. Louis Service Unit which covers part of Illi...

That can't feel good and can easily draw the attention of passenger especially if your a regular passenger. I'm not familiar with the Rock Island Line where these 2 speeding ...
