I feel like for 3 million you could build a shelter, a high level with a ramp and a parking area cheaply and quickly imho

So this is an intresting "what the Amfleet III could look like" since I doubt CAF is getting the bid for a view cab UNLESS CCR bids (I could see them bidding for a bilevel Super Local replacement)

Here you go ... A dyed in the wool rock solid red state Republican U. S. Senator from Kansas going to bat for the folks "back in Dodge" ... Amtrak told Congress ridership on the line has been falling in recent years, and that the service loses about $50 million a year. But U.S. Sen. Jerry...

NYS would be an ideal modern Euro/heavy DMU market as the lower running costs could enable 5x a day West of Albany service/exending 2 short running NYS trains. It would mean that with 4-8x trains a day and the future year round Go Transit service to Canada Amtrak could viably offer a Cross Border bu...

Springfield Service would be ideal for these DMUS as they are increasing frequency and you have a base in New Haven, so you could free up Amfleet cars for NEC runs. Most likely to replace the Amfleet not free them up. The Amfleets would be free to go on typical NEC routes, since the NEC won't go aw...

Grand Central clearance

Question about Grand Central, what is the height for the tunnels entering the station, is it able to clear a NJ style Bilevel car or is it single level only.

Thank you all in advance.

Oh sure. And who exactly is going to monitor 100,000 security cameras all day and all night? That sounds neat, but it is technologically, logistically, and practically ludicrous. People are going to drive their cars in front of moving trains. There is nothing that will stop that or prevent the coll...

see some people drooling over a Siemens prospect, but keep in mind the Siemens cars are not made out of stainless steel and probably have only half the lifetime of stainless steel cars. Having railcars last for absurdly long periods of time in this era of upgrades leads to the "Oh we have an i...

Why not just use surveillance cameras. You can have them with battery power and RF to cellular communications to central dispatch who then can use the footage combined with some sort of AI that detects motion (IE something stuck on the tracks/not moving after a set time), and you could use this for ...

Is it wrong I just want DMUs running hourly shuttle runs on the forks, because the low 120 passenger capacity would be ideal for say Ronkonkoma to fork runs and cost low.

Lithium-Ion batteries that are poorly made are the problem, as shown by the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone. Compare with Tesla's battery factories, which goes into their cars and don't explode, period. Even safer tech can be made by adding a plastic membrane to increase density and safety at the ...

That's why the FRA wouldn't certify the Flexliner, they are not ok with a train that is not held to the tracks by gravity. :-D :-D Anyway, with regard to above comments about transit couplers making it easier to add/drop, that used to work but doesn't anymore. About ten years ago the FRA grannies d...
