That coach is an ex Nickle Plate car that is going to North East, PA. It is owned by the Lake Shore Chapter and was one of the cars used in filming of Planes, Trains and Automobiles. It was supposed to have been on the road, but delays in lifting the car put off the move for several weeks. The group...

It appears to me to be about 30 feet south of the current bridge. There is an excellent photo that belongs to the Arcade Historical Society in the later editions of Pietrak's B&S Book on page 146. It clearly shows the old PRR bridge and the under pass of the B&S. There is a train blocking th...

Here is a short 2 min clip of #14 on an excursion from 1975. This was in my family's old movie collection that I've been working on digitizing. The sound is from an earlier A&A recording that I over laid the video with. Enjoy!

I have always wondered what the extra levers on the front of 14 were for. http://i552.photobucket.com/albums/jj344/BSOR_Patarak/els14arcade_zps721e261f.jpg Here is a photo of 14 after it arrived in Arcade. I'd always heard that 14 was used on the E&LS to melt switches prior to the A&A purcha...

Perhaps Ebeneezer Yard in Buffalo? Layout of round house and coal tower look similar to the Buffalo Yard.

Any idea if this episode is available for purchase? I did not see that one, and don't have access to RFD channel at this time. I would really like to see it myself.

Hello All! I have recently purchased some PRR slides from the late Bill Reddy's collection. I am trying to figure out the location of this picture as there is no data on the slide other than PRR '53. Since he was from the Western NY area, I'd guess that it is either WNY or not too far south into PA....

No, the RS-3 is ex Delaware & Hudson. The Lehigh Valley unit is the ex South Buffalo S2 #107. It also had been stored at Eden with a cracked block.

Ben, you are correct, the reference is to returning the 6th Boonton coach to service. It was #309 that sat a considerable amount of time. The K&K car has been placed on a display track at Curriers along with the Dunlop Porter and an ex B&O Box car. Restrooms are to be added to the box car at...

Well, to start with, the east-west line operated by the Western New York and Pennsylvania is in service. The north-south section (also known as the Buffalo & Southwestern) is currently divided into two different railroads. The right of way on that section is owned by the individual counties and ...

I don't think there are new serious talks of Amtrak down there and the Bills games. That subject has been well beat dead. Too many connections to try and make, too many parties involved, IMO. The WNYRHS Parlor Car was the 2nd car on the train into the station, so they were represented in the opening...

I have to agree, the applauding was a first for me in my excursion memories! It was cool to hear. The echo of the steam whistle down the 18 mile creek valley was awesome too. The rain added a challenge to operations, but didn't keep people from coming out. There were so many that put the hard work i...

Celebrating the Bi-Centennial of the Town of Eden, the BSOR will be hosting special steam excursions out of Eden. This is the first steam locomotive and public passenger train hosted by the BSOR. The trips will be powered by Viscose #6 and will operate from the Eden Station north to the 18 Mile Cree...

The train is all in and unloaded as of last night. CSX refused the older style roller bearings that were under some of the coaches two years ago. They wouldn't move them, so the coaches went via NS and FingerLakes to Syracuse. Last year Strates purchased 4 stainless steel cars that were on the Batte...
