What's the location of the bottom photo ?
I believe the location of the bottom photo is Riverhead. Looks like they are unloading newspapers from the baggage car, and a heavyweight parlor car is directly behind the baggage car.

https://ozarkmountainrailcar.com/railEquipment.php?itemId=3239 (User Registration Required - Free) Ozark has a slumbercoach for sale ($15k). We've had a back and forth on whether these would be a fit for Amtrak, however Amtrak is disposed to them. Here's my question: would a private operator, as Pu...

Private car “Navy Inspection Car 118” will travel from NYP to PGH on train 43 (30).

The 109 year old car has been donated to Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum. I believe this will be its final voyage on Amtrak or a mainline railroad.

When we came aboard several decades ago, the LIRR didn't have a dime. The Superintendent scoured the Railway Equipment Journal for other road's junk rolling stock to buy so we could run summer service. We'd buy it, paint the inside and send it to Montauk with Pullman chairs we bought for $50 each. ...

Bad order equipment moving to a shop for repair is probably the most likely reason.

Another possibility that comes to mind is that LIRR had sold/donated these cars and they were moving them to interchange for delivery to their new owner(s).

Thanks for the info. I did, however, find a head end view (going eastbound) made by Retired Railfan Horn Guy on You Tube. It's an interesting video. I enjoyed watching that video yesterday. I noticed some sections of third rail near the new terminal appear to be without a protective cover. My other...

Speaking of former LIRR equipment in Michigan … In the late 1970s and early 1980s, the former LIRR 2077 SEBONAC (x New Haven 529 GROVE BEACH) was used as a private residence by a couple and their daughter in Michigan. They removed 5 of the 6 roomettes to create a living room. They modified the area ...

Yes, I agree with that assumption. A symptom of foamer dementia. Violates the safety principle to expect a train on any track at any time.

First, for ready reference: https://www.aaprco.com/rail-car/blue-ridge-club/ Mr. Deasy, does this mean that Ellis did the conversion of two Bedrooms to the Master Suite, or was that done during a prior ownership? I don’t know. I don’t remember who owned this car prior to Iowa Pacific. I’m tempted t...

Rail Excursion Management Company owns three Amfleet 1 cars (2 coaches and 1 cafe) that they purchased from Amtrak. Thus three Amfleet 1 cars have already become private cars.

The Ed Ellis former C&O, former B&O, 5BR-flat end Obs in IC livery was on end of #4(26). When Ellis's gang realized they were never going to have the PRJ business to support a full Diner, they built a Kitchen into likely two of the Bedrooms with the remaining being crew accommodation. After...

Observed #3(18) today. In addition to its normal six car consist. There were two Sleepers on the rear. One in IC livery (a formerly Ed Ellis car?) and an ex-UP "Pacific--" that had been stripped and was lettered "Pullman" (Mr. Deasy's?). No, you did not not six double bedroom lo...
