I believe the tracks end somewhere along side the baseball/softball fields, just north of the Monadnock Paper Mill, in Bennington. This part of the Hillsboro Branch used to be part of to the Worcester & Hillsboro Branch or sometimes referred to as the Worcester & Contoocook Branch. I think a...

For readers who are looking at this forum, please note that the Conway Scenic Railroad is not in trouble in any way, shape or form. The steam engine is completely safe, the owner would do anything to keep it running for years to come. The precautions that the current ownership put into place (block...

When I was talking to someone who railfans the Conway Scenic often last year, he said those trucks had a crack in them already. The previous owners let the engine run like that, Dave didn't have a problem with it, it was never a problem until someone said last year that the engine was not safe to r...

It operated for a short period of time on the M&B. Before that, it came from Guilford/B&M.

That makes no sense, why would David be responsible for Cabin Fever losing their restaurant?

I thought this house bill had been tabled, apparently it wasn't for long. Amendments we're made that specify the limitations only to the Nashua and Manchester commuter rail corridor. There hasn't been any push back that I can see regarding this bill.

25 to 30 mph!? No they don't go that fast. It's 11 miles round trip to and from Conway, it takes a little over 20 minutes each way (add 10 + minutes for the run around), when you do the math, it comes out to 15 mph. Their entire schedule is based off 15 miles per hour average speed. While some areas...

The Conway Scenic Railroad is not going anywhere if you ask me. The people still want to ride on the trains, the fall foliage season will be successful as always, ticket prices will always be strong, the railroad is nowhere near done. Even if the ownership now is bad, this railroad is still one of ...

There are two wyes available to the railroad (Bartlett and Quebec Jct), both could be capable of turning the Yankee.

Just remember the more you have, the more it cost to maintain and being a for profit business you have to weigh the benefits and watch the bottom line.

EastYorktrainFaan - #2820 was a GE U23B, that operated on the Conway Scenic in 2006 & 2007 before the crankshaft gave out. In order for the unit to run again they would have needed to replace the engine block as the damage was unrepairable. They ended up trading it to the Finger Lakes Railway fo...
