My only knowledge of FLIRTSsare the FTW to DFW Tex Rail. Nice trains, but not something I think will be comfortable for three hours in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRAgvdlWsWI&t=25s I hope there is another interior that goes with the InterCity package. Still think it will look like the UK's ...

Likely only of concern to those (i.e. moi) who "read the paper" on paper, the noted article appears front page, "top of fold", column one in today's Times. Now that I've read the article, "what a boondoggle". Presumably the Amtrak San Joaquins can use the (roundly) Fre...

These FLIRTS may look like the UK version since it states it will be an InterCity Version.

Its not built to nowhere, see the video it will be linked to enhanced ACE and Amtrak SJ service.

It says that these will replace "push-pull trains" which I take to be the California Car and Surfliner Cars, and that they will supplement the Siemens cars being delivered now. It also looks like the FLIRT trainsets can be rated for up to 125mph, hopefully these can then take advantage of...

Notice what these units will replace. On another Amtrak forum, a knowledgeable poster stated the relatively new Siemens cars (really a stop gap) will be replaced by these Stadler Hydrogen units. It says so in the above article. Not a long shelf life but I am sure the Siemens coaches will find new ho...

https://www.railwayage.com/passenger/intercity/california-orders-29-hydrogen-trains-for-inter-city-services/ "The contract includes options for 25 more trainsets, which would replace existing diesel locomotive-operated operating push-pull sets used for state-funded Amtrak California services.&q...

So yes, a TGV Duplex would fit on the NEC. As been stated multilevel cars have running for decades through the Hudson tubes.

Lets just hope Amtrak gets whatever technical gremlins fixed so we can run the single level TGV like set Amtrak do have.

TGV Duplex

Height 4,303 mm (14 ft 17⁄16 in)

The power cars are most likely the same dimensions.

The "TGV of the Future" looks kind of familiar: https://i.imgur.com/fEvIC6G.jpg It is doubledeck however and I don't believe it tilts. https://www.railjournal.com/fleet/sncf-and-alstom-unveil-tgv-of-the-future/?utm_source=&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=35071 Is this the same power...

We will see what the latest plan and financing is.

Just kind of weird that the locomotives stayed upright but all of the cars toppled over. Wonder if the lighter baggage car being up front had any effect? Unfortunate horrible event for Amtrak. With no rails to guide them the car follow the terrain and laid on their sides. There are many derailments...

Some of us remember when the Genesis replaced the F40. Oh the wailing from engineers and railfans, "the units load slow", "the Genesis ride horrible", "Genesis are ugly, and "GE will never outlast an EMD". Almost 30 years later of Genesis pulling millions of passen...

Texas Central won its court case in Texas, now is the time to show the money. If not, this was a moot case.

This has more to do with Texas Central not having their finances in order. They did not have the financing. Period. Enough politicians were behind it to get it down and over rule the rural politicians. But as time went by Texas Central was acting liking a ponzi scheme. Eventually you have to show yo...
