If Brightline did serve MIC, would it be on the way to Miami Downtown or a new endpoint?
Shame Amtrak cannot make it work, but one would think when building this beautiful facility Amtrak needed room to service and turn trains there.

When did Siemens start marketing this as "Venture" trainsets? Viaggio must too hard for Americans to pronounce. And are we saying a Venture consist being pulled by a new type of locomotive not unveiled yet? One that can run under the wire and not down to Richmond.
Metra is an unlikely destination. They've recently rebuilt all their F40s, they have the SD70MAC conversions coming in the next couple of years with options for more, and they're looking to rebuild the F59 fleet they got from Amtrak/GO. What's the fuel consumption on the F40's vs the P42's/P40's? W...
Amtrak is the only traffic on the route? How long do we expect this to keep up for the sake of history? Eventually the SWC will move to the Clovis line with a wye in ABQ. It makes the only sense.
Where does the train wye at in Newport News? And what is the address or area of the soon to be built station? I am familiar with the area. The current turn is, I think, the eastern wye at 39th Street. The Va. DRPT says it enters "a CSX coal yard for turning and servicing," which more or l...

30 years of service, the Genesis ran longer and reliable for Amtrak than the F40s. Aside from a few museums, they will end up scrap. Amtrak got their money's worth out of them.
Ironic that an E unit looks more contemporary today in 2021 than when it debuted in the late 30s. You can say same for the Alco PAs too.
Interesting that the AC units are so high up, on the Superliners and other pax cars the units are down low to help keep the CG lower. Its easy to see how it would be easier to access at the present location.
Is this for Metra only or a new product that Alstom will be offering to other agencies too? https://youtu.be/DYfJ_X3gUMI?t=46 At 46 seconds in, one can see the front boogie, is it odd to have disc brakes on only one set of wheels for a vehicle that has to stop often? With Alsom buying part of Bombar...
@Ken W2kb, thank you for the illustration. In the beginning of the project, there were criticisms that one could not reach all of the tracks Amtrak uses. I see that is not true.
So per the pictures posted, are the tracks beneath the new station open? Or even there? Are not the tracks Amtrak uses under Penn Station errr........MSG?
https://www.texasmonthly.com/politics/texas-bullet-train-abbott/ More trouble ........ What Was Behind Greg Abbott’s Bullet Train Flip-flop? Rural Texans have long accepted, sometimes grudgingly, that strips of their land might be acquired to build oil pipelines and highways. But the prospect of a h...
