I think the Caltrain stadlers maybe?
The irony is, we have truly a metric crap ton of plans which have stood the test of time. Heavyweight Pullman’s and parlor cars ran at 100MPH behind GG1s and P-5s in the 30s. The plans and the builders drawings are at the Illinois Railroad Museum, on permanent loan from Bombardier. Streamline cars ...
Sleeper trains are an international practice, not just an amtrak peculiarity, so I would be very hesitant to say that they should dropped, but they could probably be run more efficiently

Not to take a thing away from the conscientious work Mr. Dawe has shared with the Forum, I must wonder if he holds a sixth sense that both The Canadian and the Ocean are "done for". In short, if he chooses to ride any kind of LD train on this continent. he need venture "below the 49t...
Interesting. I've put this in a spreadsheet, and that gives us some quick statistics https://i.imgur.com/WBWkpkc.png Our champion train for utilization would appear to be the Zephyr, which if on schedule is on the move 86% of the time (not counting set-out cars are protect consists) and puts on 354,...

didn't the MILW/CBQ/CNW used to manage a round trip per day with their trains?
I know it's a bit off topic but just think of all those beautiful shots of trains going through the spectacular scenic vistas of North America. Now picture that same shot with ugly catenary ruining the views. Ugh! The view's fine https://www.google.com/search?q=scenic+swiss+trains&rlz=1C1CHBD_e...
Some day, may you all enjoy the utility of contactless credit and debit payments, but the United States is generally the most backwards developed nation when it comes to small-value payments processing
DB or SNCF or NS (the dutch one) are all international rail operators. In fact, before the late coronavirus disruptions most rail services in the UK were state-owned, just not British-state-owned Keolis (operates MBTA Commuter Rail) is mostly SNCF owned. DB operates the London Overground https://www...
