Re: Kinzua Dam RR

I'm not aware of any rails of that line left, except at the extreme east end of Pennsylvania, where there are often tank cars up against a chain link fence next to the road. I believe that's the main line, and I certainly wouldn't hope the fence to check, but I believe that the rail is much lighter ...

It seems like the previous issues with the WNYRHS have long been resolved, and it is amazing and wonderful that we have seen so much progress in such a short time. It's important for me to state that this deal with the K4 was around a decade ago.

I'll be honest here: I know people have tried and will continue to try to get the line working. They have spoken to the IDA and god knows whom else trying to get things rolling. They might have even begged. I'm not sure. Personally, I have tried to get involved, though not north of Jamestown, where ...

The problem is, though, that there are, and have been, opportunities. Excursions don't pay the bills, and they don't get a line healthy. The IDA has been made aware, at least twice that I know of, concerns, but as we all know here, most of the public doesn't understand what a railroad is or does, an...

Sure, love to. Mind you, I'll also add my input here, too. Here's the quote from the third paragraph of the article: "The local rail maintained by New York & Lake Erie Railroad Inc. received $732,768 to rehabilitate the rail line between South Dayton and Cherry Creek, which will allow passe...

The Jamestown paper has an article about yet more foolishness with this railroad. I continue to be disgusted at how this entire line (and no, I'm not talking about the Buffalo Southern) has been allowed to founder for the two decades that I have been around. Opportunity after opportunity has been mi...

I did not see something there that showed it was still with us. If I may, where did you see it on that site?

Massachusetts: steam locomotives in the water?

A friend of mine is writing something, and he came across a tidbit (he thinks it was a dinner train with the Cape Cod) about a bad accident with at least one locomotive going in the water, and maybe staying there. He said that the details he heard were fuzzy anyway, but I thought I would post someth...

Terminal, I know you're very optimistic here, but I wanted to mention just one item on your list, and see how much of a concern it is. You mention that the Thruway is only "a mile and a half away." This alone makes the whole thing a non-starter. If you're not looking at this objectively, i...

I think there's some confusion about some things that I've said here. There's no doubt that this would be a difficult process to do, and it's simply not going to happen. But BR&P is speaking here like I don't know what I'm talking about, or haven't been around down here for the last 16 years to ...
