There needs to be a viable customer to have rail service. When Conrail attempted to abandon in the 1990's due to no customers, Jim Wilson stepped in and was able to get one customer, then a second with the trash transfer business. Unfortunately both have disappeared or moved elsewhere. Passaic has b...

Reached out to a couple more people including the lawyer for the new property owner, but nope, not a peep.

I was in that area on Sept 21st. Everything still there at that time. Did the tracks just get lifted? Will need to take another ride.

DogBert, I have been trying to purchase the railroad speeder stored in that yard for several years. Not getting any response from the former owner after multiple attempts. I have the means to remove it in only a few hours as I live nearby. The new property owner will want all the equipment out withi...

There are extensive track maps available at the link to the State website. Pretty neat.

Great video. Amazing the changes since the railroad folded.

I would love to see that video of the Red Line train pulling up to the speeder. I for one believe the story.

Thank you again for sharing and reposting the photos!

Maybe you can simply repost the photos on this same tread as responses?

I really enjoyed your photos. The movies would be great to see.

Yes the Erie E-8, getting fairly rusty, the RS-3 and several passenger cars are still sitting on and near the turntable in Port Jervis as of June 2nd.

Drove past today, equipment is still there, but the old engine house is gone. Demo crew was on site cleaning up & fixing the fence. The building was a wreck and probably in danger of collapsing during a good storm, so it's good that it's gone regardless. That wasn't and engine house. That was t...

Pumpers,

In the late 1980s / early 1990s my dad and I used to railfan that line at least once a month. I remember one Conrail TV train we chased to Lackawaxen that was around 12,000 feet.

I believe some of the Sea Land trains were also around the 10,000 ft mark.

They are not going to Hudson Yard, the interchange should take place in Phillipsburg on the secondary itself. Expect to see some track work in Phillipsburg, including lowering of the track at the "hole in the wall" to allow Plate "F" cars. Accommodations are being made to work th...

Having been in government for 25 years I can tell you the vocal minority are those that come to town council meetings and create the biggest issues. The politicians, wanting to remain in office, often placate to those folks or ask staff to bend over backwards for them as they do not want bad press. ...

Toys R Us no longer occupies the warehouse and it is up for sale. Actively being marketed with the rail siding. I believe the tracks have been covered with stone to allow trailer parking, but they have not been paved over. A problem continues to be the lack of ability to get what had been larger car...
