heard about the fourth trk but the engine trks are news to me. one more place to stash a train I guess...
I've been hearing more and more that District 4 is indeed coming back?
Does it exist? Did anyone with a moving picture camera ever make it to the HT&W? They must have given the multitude of fan trips run over the line. Who's guilty and has it packed away in a mildewed box in the basement? Maybe local historical societies?
That, and a crossover a few engine lengths east of CP-RJ so you don't have to do the Scotia shuffle to shove the trains in from 5s. If the connection was timed better, and the train preblocked with locals on the headpin and deerfields on the rear you could have the roadcrew just grab the brake slip,...
newpylong wrote:FYI they're putting another track in at XO between ST1 and the CS now.yeah, friend of mine mentioned that the other day, which triggered the rant. after switching RJ for nearly a year, you see the shortcomings of the operations there, and long for something a little more efficient...
Throw a couple more tracks in MeChanicVille, move all RJ crews to XO. Eliminate 14R/11R rest & return bid, moving the 3 crews as XO locals. Pay CSX to block trains RJ Local/VTR/EDFLD. Eliminate EDRJ/RJED and run 14R/11R MCV-EDFLD-MCV with a local crew on a 12 hour turn, with 14R setting out RJ L...
3019 waiting on the east end or the GW bridge. Are all these being trucked in? No rail shipments over NYA?
Are they still setting these salt blocks off at Hoosick Junction/Hoosick Middle or are they running them through to Deerfield?
Quick Question: Do MP15's ever venture onto the line to Atlantic Terminal? Do work trains here run with some other type of power or cars due to the tunnels? Is there any opportunity to see MP15s on the Atlantic Ave elevated portion?

Not that long ago when i was working for ST, there were a lot of nights where they'd call an extra, or use a local to protect 23k. This generally involved only taking the train from Vial Ave and tying down on the CP controled siding, a distance of about two miles. Most NS crews are qualified to Ferr...
I know we are not supposed to speculate on the cause, and I agree that we should wait to see what the event recorder tells us, but I can't help thinking that since this was push-pull in push mode, Is it possible that even with the brakes applied, could the locomotive malfunction and continue to pro...
Yes, I believe it was the BHT&W. BHT&W was built under D&H interests to compete with Troy & Greenfield traffic, routing it through Schenectady originally, prior to the building of the Rotterdam Branch. At various times BHT&W had grand ambitions of Buffalo, as well as Boston, but ...
Also...don't discount the effect of PAR's crap-awful maint standards for the excess squealing. They're infamous enough for what sorry condition their locos are in. I can only imagine what duct tape and baling wire is holding together the boxcar fleet these days. Earplugs aren't necessarily required...
