Although a few years old, these photos illustrate the portion of line being discussed. I assure you, the track hasn't gotten better with time! Do the F40's still run in Notch 8 in work train service? I thought that was for HEP purposes only, and didn't NJT replace all of the HEP gear with CAT gensets anyway ( now removed I believe ) for HEP power? The F40PH-2CAT's still have HEP in one form or another. They were actually used in revenue s...

According to this picture, ACS-64 #645 is a PRR sticker unit, and has been for at least a few months. Does anyone know of any unofficial Amtrak "sticker units" for either the sprinters or other locomotives for Amtrak? If that photo is indeed legit, I would bet my paycheck that an Amtrak e...

As MoW work continues along the Atlantic City Line, a second ballast train was sent down in as many weeks. The train arrived in Cherry Hill late on Thursday night. I unfortunately missed it Friday morning, but had the chance to set-up for a few night shots Friday evening, after work. The train was t...

F40s 4120 & 4119 came down to South Jersey on Wednesday on a ballast train to help out with MoW work along the Atlantic City Line. They were spotted parked along the passing siding at the Cherry Hill station. http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=5420013 The pair returned to the M...

MoW work continues on the Atlantic City Line. A loaded stone train arrived yesterday (10/14) afternoon in South Jersey, and was stored overnight on the passing siding at the Cherry Hill station. Before the crew arrived this morning, I was able to snap a few head end shots of the train in the early m...

Per a heads-up I've received, #s 4119 and 4120 are going to be on train #1171 tonight - 9/30.

I cannot confirm this info, simply passing it along.

Back in April of this year, I saw a post on the "Southern Railroad of New Jersey" thread stating that the Rt 322 grade crossing in the Williamstown area was to be replaced. I found this odd because it had been over 10 years since that portion of the line had been utilized. (Trains seldom t...

Are 601 and 627 permanently retired? How long had 601 been in service? It might not beat P40 819 as the shortest-lived Amtrak loco, but it's got to be pretty high up on the list? #601 began testing along the NEC in February of 2014, with its first revenue run on March 1st. The derailment of train #...

I think #4109 has been assigned to the Passaic Valley Line as of lately.

F40s #4119 & 4120 led Main/Bergen County Line train #1171 yesterday to Suffern, NY. I'm hearing there could possibly be another locomotive shortage, but can confirm if that was the reason the two F40PH-2CATs were back in service.

Two questions:

Is the trainset testing each evening?

Does it leave and return to Philly each night?
