Got the book for Christmas. I echo other's comments here about the photos and other information details about each road. Of course I liked the A&A coverage very much; also liked the Genessee & Wyoming and the Dansville & Mt. Morris info having attend Geneseo for college. I plan on pickin...

Photo 30 - I was floored to see my childhood home's railroad crossing posted in the foreground of this slide! Location is 2 miles west of Corfu, NY - George dairy farm. Most of our farm was on the south side of the tracks with the house and barn on the north side. Red barn and silo is neighbor's far...

Hey thanks a million for the history and photo Pat. I knew it had to be situated on part of the old wye and it was the old section to connect with the Pennsylvania before the purchase of the B&S trackage. I remember going through the Grover Cleveland car as a kid when it was situated on that sec...

Anyone know the siding configurations in the various villages served by the A&A - i.e. Johnsonburg, Varysburg, North Java, and Java Center? I know creameries, etc. were opened and closed in certain towns (Java Center and Varysburg) and that Johnsonburg and Earls had sidings, but would be interes...

Good eye Mountcastle. When I road on Memorial Day I did not notice the subtle difference to the smokebox. Just wanted to say that the follks at the A&A were their usual joyful and helpful selves again to start the year. Many folks chasing the train Memorial Day. Hope they helped the railroad out...

Yep, I'm familiar withthe history of the A&A plow. Just wondering why the switch was made this season. Guess the WNYRHS folks were amenable to a lease which is good for both the A&A and them. Hope it works out. Also hope the old A&A plow is able to be kept on the property.

All - Just wondering if this is the plow you are referring to - http://www.trainweb.org/wnyrhs/mow.htm#flanger . It's good that it can get some use. What is the issue with the A&A plow - just wearing out?

One more is the Arcade Sesquicentennial spiral bound book "Progress with a Past" published in 1957. Pages 42 to 46 gives a brief history of the A&A up to then. Several pictures are included. Book also has a single picture of a Buffalo & Susquehanna pasenger train going under the Pe...

Yes Pat you are right - Larry Romance Farm Equipment on the north side of west main next to the former Jenny Lee Dairy restaurant. Pieces of farm equipment on the flatcar in the photo you reference Ben appear to be haybines.

Ben - There were a couple of farm equipment dealers on West Main Street in Arcade, along the original B&S portion of the A&A. One was CM & MC Drake (who also had a feed business) on same side of Main as Delightful's is now. They sold Oliver and later White farm equipment. Drake's feed bu...

Thanks for the Happy Thanksgiving greetings Ben. I trust everyone stuffed themselves like they were supposed to. Both the Bills and the Sabres had good weekends.

Yes that is what I'm doing as well; waiting, as the new book is on my list.

Since there hasn't been a lot of talk lately on the forum and by now everyone has had time to read and digest the information in the new Arcadia book, any additional thoughts? Anyone care to provide an example of something in the new book that they didn't know about the A&A?
