Wow, I didn't realize one could fill 5 pages and counting dissecting the pros and cons of which way seats face on a train. Wait until you find out that even some planes have seats facing backwards! The blasphemy! Motion sickness is caused by visual disorientation affecting the inner ear. Not much v...
Per the NTSB report on the December 2017 crash at the Point Defiance Bypass failure of the rotating seat locks was the direct cause of some passenger's injuries and caused seats to block isles, preventing egress following the accident. That report lists a number of times when the failure of the sea...
All of these FRA dream trains will have backwards seating. Unless of course they go with my brilliant idea of just runnig a loop from Pocatello through Flint, Huntsville, Joplin, Merced, and back to Pocatello. :-) :-) :-) https://railfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/rfr-nationalnetwork-800.png I ...
Watch out Amtrak. Some people with severe motion sickness can be considered as having a disability. Lawsuits coming?
Rotating seats have been used around the world with no problem. I do remember something about people being fatally injured in a Sightseer Lounge due to unlockable loose swivel seats but this is rare and those seats are unique scenic perches. You can't provide 100% safety on a train. People are kille...

After looking back for a while when looking forward it seems that the landscape is pulling away from me for a while. Lasts about 10 minutes. You are not alone there. Very common experience for most people.
Just did a quick Google search. According to Wikipedia "Roughly one-third of people are highly susceptible to motion sickness". Good luck Amtrak.
I hope free Dramamine will be supplied in the cafe car
They moved the WAS for CP-VO further east in between Main St. and Voorheesville Ave and placed the EAS signal on the NS connection at the clearance point for the switch on Track 2. So the signal for NS is around the bend? Shouldn't it be before the crossing at the end of tangent track? That would c...
Mr. Wolf, ask me and I'll say FIXED SEATING SUCKS!!! But it's life. Simple as that; I like to ride forward and get headaches if backward. But better get used to it for it's here to stay. It has been "The Standard" in Europe as long as they have had railroads. On that point, I recall a rid...

That great for the future of the Worcester main that this is proceedingI assume it will be done by lowering the tracks. The tunnels look untouchable since there are buildings right on top of them.
For a ridiculous cost.
