There is no way it will be mined here. The company I work for, has been waiting for 12 years for a quarry permit, for a tract of land away from any residences. And even after 12 years, the permit application just moved to the review phase, which will still be 5-10 years (if approved) before we would...

They have a treatment plant on site. The water they use is in a closed system, which reuses the same water after going through the treatment plant.

Railfan's Day or Weekend, was canceled because they don't have enough help. I read everyone's complaints all summer long and yet not one of those complaints offered solution or a helping hand. It's easier to sit behind a key board and Monday morning quarterback, everything they do or don't do inste...

It might just be me, but given the amount of railroads in the area which offer mechanical services, as well as companies like CAD and AMP, it just seems odd that they picked a contractor from a few hundred miles away. It might just be a case of "how low can you go?" but I really do hope th...

Well in all honesty, I rather have my tax dollars spent on reactivating rail, instead of being used to build bike paths. At least with rail, there will be some return on the initial investment.

I could be wrong, but isn't there a steam loco up in Gorham, NH of similar design?

The railroad looks like it has been run down over the past year. When I went to conway back in June, the yard looked like my local transfer station with trash, junk vehicles, and scrap laying around.

Irving, Pan Am, Morristown & Erie, and CMQ were the 4 bidders I remember from the last time the branch went up for bid. I imagine Irving will place a bid in order to increase the NBM Railways footprint in Maine. But who knows, maybe M&E has a renewed interest after the loss of multiple lines...

The rumor going around is that either the train will be sold off by Pan Am before the sale, or will be shipped to Mellon's ranch in Wyoming.

They will be, the state is in negotiations to buy it from Pan Am with the intention of making it into a trail.

CM&Q ran a profitable show, even if it was tight. Towards the end, understandably, the mother company tightened the financial strings. In 2019 it wasn't uncommon to chat with crews and hear how things had changed, the railroad was on a budget much tighter than the early days. They were stable, ...

I just watched a video on YouTube of CP laying welded rail around Greenville. Do they plan on having RJ Corman install it before the summer construction season? It just seems odd that they are laying rail in the middle of the winter. I included the video in mention in the link below. https://youtu.b...

Downeast supplies Sargent, Pike, as well as several smaller contractors like B&B. Sargent and Pike have been competitors with Lane/Northeast Paving for quite sometime, so I can't necessarily see them buying asphalt off of Northeast Paving once the tank is built, so I don't think you will see muc...

Since it is winter, how do CSX & PAR compare on snow fighting? I am not sure about CSX, but it seems that they mainly use ballast regulators. As for Pan Am, they rely on ballast regulators as well, but the eastern end of the railroad has had several large storms in recent years which warrant th...

That would only be possible in the extremely unlikely event, that VRS would be willing to sell out.
