Sorry to hear it's still as messed up as it was last Spring. At that time you could ride the commuter rail between Braintree and South Station for free just by showing your Charlie Card to the conductor. Don't know if that's still in effect.

Well I remember that in 1968 it was eighty-five cents one-way between Jamaica and Westbury. And in 1974 a monthly ticket between Westbury and Penn was fifty-three dollars.
A real shame seeing the 1800's deteriorating the way they are. When they were new, they were really nice cars, my favorite in the whole system. Sharp looking and very spacious, and originally we could see out the front of all of them. I will miss them when they're gone.
Thanks typesix . I guess things on the Red Line are gonna get a lot worse before they get better. That is unless CRRC gets their act together and starts delivering the new cars more quickly. From all accounts here, it doesn't sound like that's about to happen. :( BTW, are the 1700 series cars doing ...
Is MBTA not able to repair the dead propulsion units?
What about Babylon Tower? Is that still in operation?
Good to see LIRR finally waking up to reality. At Jamaica this morning around 11am, I was surprised to hear an announcement for an express train to Brooklyn on Track-3. Good that improved Brooklyn service is spreading beyond the rush hour.
Thanks for the update Jake. Do you know what the problems were with 9013-14 and 9015-16 that kept them out-of-service all this time.
I want to update my posting from back in February 2023 and can now say I have seen the R211T. It was yesterday (8/22/2023). The 10 car train (cars 4040-4041-4042-4043-4044 4049-4048-4047-4046-4045) were on the 'express' track on the Sea Beach line (N train) at the Ft. Hamilton Parkway station. I am...
Yes, the old markers said for example: 12 MU.
The new markers say: 4-12 UNIT
Doubtful because LIRR's M3's have over-running 3rd rail shoes for LIRR style 3rd rail. And MN's M3's have under-running shoes for the under-running 3rd rail that was built years ago by New York Central RR. Not sure if there are any other reasons why they couldn't run on each other's railroads.
It’s all part of the dumbing down campaign. The “new generation” don’t comprehend the ability to center spot or load spot trains. It’s easier to put one marker up and everyone go to one marker (less likely to screwup) The markers are horrific at mineola and take absolutely no account for the shorte...
Head end of the platform in both directions.
Since the completion of the Third-Track Project there has been a change in the location of the MU car markers on station platforms. There used to be separate markers for 4-8, 10 and 12 car trains to stop with the first car at different locations to put the train reasonably close to the center of the...
Is the Chief Trainmaster who gave the engineer the order to engage in unsafe operation being held accountable for his actions?
