A new date that actually has relevance in New York - Saturday May 13 - Dunkirk NY - Upstate NY Chapter TCA Toy Train Show, Dunkirk Fairgrounds. Also includes craft show and flea market. I have a few more fall dates on hand; Arcade & Attica RR Train Show, Arcade Fire Hall, 9/9; TTCS Falling Leave...

I have seen a few claims the train did get an alarm at the Salem detector but was directed to continue. IIRC the dispatching office has access to the readouts from the detector and could check what it was reporting. But nothing definite on this either. If that is the case NS is really going to take ...

I just literally had one of the flyers in my hand. It's the same place, the American Legion Post 1645, on Robinson St, and starts about 9:30, runs to 3:00. Like $5 to get in. Jeff Olin booked out through the end of the decade to continue holding these shows.

Binghamton had flyers out at Utica. I sent in the money for a table. Generally this post is to focus on New York State train shows other than the New York City metro area (because you'd lose your mind trying to keep up with all the shows down there). The Springfield MA show is included because it's ...

That's because it connected New York to nowhere. I've postulated elsewhere had they merged with the Rome, Watertown & Ogdensberg rather than that going to the Central, it might have put them on a decent foothold by giving a route not only to Buffalo but to Watertown and points north. Either way,...

I just remember Conrail running those monster trains for a couple of months and then they went away. Crew I talked to mentioned three knuckles just trying to get one out of Buffalo. I concluded on my own the tech behind it wasn't quite there, but the unions could just as easily have said we're not d...

I don't even show that as verified yet, the last I'd heard they didn't know if they'd have it at all. March 18th it is.

If I were in Buffalo I might make the trip. They don't say how many tables so it's hard to judge just how big it is.

There are pictures of it in a thread on RYPN on the IP debacle, it's at a former auto plant there with a few other cars but it's in a separate location.

Nothing has been done to the car and it looks no different than when I remember walking up to it as it rotted next to NY-209 in maybe 2005.

DPU is sort of they couple two trains together and run all the engines from the head end. Sometimes a rear engine is added. Conrail actually tried this in like 1995-ish, a group of maybe 20 C40-8Ws had a Locotrol system installed and they'd run 200 car ELSE's with it. But they eventually gave up as ...

Utica show was about average. I bought a ton of cheap stuff to flip and a few neat things to keep. Confirmed dates for future shows: Binghamton - March 11 (flyers out) Spring Fulton show - April 28-29 NEW SHOW DATES: March 3/12 - Buffalo (Hamburg) - Toy Train Show by Chuck's Train Room - Sanborn Fir...
