I worked Tuckhoe enough times but it's been a long ways back. Soooooo all I can give you is this from my issued Employee Timetable No. 4 in effect June 14, 1971 . I edited the list down to just the switches at Tuckahoe. At the time I was there they were ground throws and I don't know if they were ev...

They would be awfully boring looking. Even the early on dark green Baldwin "Green Hornets" were rather bland but they did have a not often seen letter board. The GP-38s were very plain also with only a round herald at each end and on side behind the cab.

There's also a West Jersey Ave or two in Atlantic County along the old Turkey Path as well as a Railroad Ave. Odd one on the same line is Reading Ave. in Mays Landing where the station area is then it alterantes between West Jersey Ave. and Atlantic Ave from Northfield to P'ville. No roads run paral...

It was called the Annual Convention of the American Railway Master Mechanics' Association and from what I can gather ran from 1883 to 1923 . That is only the references I could find, there are many annual reports of the Association Convention in paperback from on Amazon. Not much help I'm afraid alth...

Lots of B & O 3 pocket hoppers in the Reading trains that used to set out their cars on No.1 track south of Brown. Some Reading and Western Maryland mixed in, don't remember too many PRR hoppers, but that don't mean there weren't any, I just don't remember. On occasion I saw the entire Reading t...

At the risk of seeming as though I am beating my own drum, here's one I built in 1999 in my shop for the Rough & Tumble Shay Railroad in Kinzers, PA. Reading Company MOW plans from 1912 were used as a guide and some parts resized a bit to fit the particulars of the job. It's 2000 gallons capacity...

Mike, I don't have any photos but remember handling them at Brown,Winslow and Woodbury interlocking stations every once in a while. We're talking late '60's ,early 70's . I know I saw them as a kid living in Gloucester City until 1964 when we moved. Our rear porch had a wide open view of the Millvil...

The other side is probably about the same. Air compressors were usually mounted on the port side on right hand running railways so to not block engineman's view ahead ,but this isn't saying in couldn't be on the starboard. Backhead would be simple with throttle, gage glass, try cocks, blower valve,inje...

I don't think the diaphragm on the tender was so much as dummy as an air break (not brake). Vaccum formed in between cars ar high speed is no little amount of drag, perhaps the thought of a diaphram was intended to help reduce this effect somewhat.

Only engines I know for absolute sure that were setup to do this were LNER Pacifics such as the Flying Scotsman, Mallard and others of the A-3 and A-4 class. They were equiped with what was called corridor tenders so crews could be changed while underway on trains such the non-stop London to Edinbur...

What a shame...... I agree. It has become a late forum. This forum is no more! It has ceased to be! It's expired and gone to meet it's maker! It 's a stiff! Bereft of life, It rests in peace! It's kicked the bucket, it's shuffled off it's mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the choir invis...
