Re: "Up North" Gawking (District 1 sightings)

I'm guessing this block of Irving lumber is headed for Selkirk via CSX M427? Or would some of it be headed for PAS/NS at Ayer? I'm guessing any Irving lumber bound for NS would go via CP across the Moosehead?

“Millers Railfan” captured this train departing Vernon VT and posted the video to YouTube.

I thought all Davisville racks came to P&W at Worcester via CSX M438 these days? Is NS/PAS once again delivering racks to P&W at Gardner (prior to the D3 derailment)?

Apparently train was powered by NS Thoroughbreds and as derailed cars were loaded with cooking oil and plastic pellets, 94 car train must have been what NS would call 16R and B&E calls MOED.

Not containers so it wasn't 264/265. But one TV station is reporting that it's a CSX (!) train - maybe it's PAS RJED or EDRJ?

That Mass Coastal has freight rights on an MBTA line that hasn't seen freight activity in 20 years is provocative. A Google Earth exam of the line doesn't even show any potential shippers. The Bay Colony RR NEARS presentation of April 2017 at the link below indicates that BCRR had freight rights on ...

Is the Globe article correct that Mass Coastal operates to Framingham? I'm under the impression that Mass Coastal handles the dispatching of the Commonwealth-owned Framingham Secondary but CSX has the rights to operate freight service over the line; not Mass Coastal.

Q: not a VRS question specifically but is it likely that G&W (ie, NECR and B&E) would use the WACR route to bridge traffic between CP/Irving lines and E Deerfield? It seems to me that the former EDPO/POED traffic handling with CSX ownership of PAR is a little clunky these days. Of course the...

FWIW, I drove over the CSX Worcester Main on New Harbor Rd bridge at Clinton at 1030 Thursday 1/18/24 and saw a yellow Herzog (?) material handler train working just southwest of the overpass near Woodlawn St. Couldn't stop so I have no additional details....

I'm guessing CSX had a stock pile of steel ties? I've read CSX used steel ties instead of treated wood ties to eliminate soil seepage as a "green practice" when it built the Northwest Ohio Intermodal Terminal at North Baltimore OH in 2010 or so.
