The Maple Leaf could do with a baggage car too, though I am sure both US CBP and Canadian CBSA would throw a massive hissy-fit. The Adirondack did run cross-border with baggage car service until 2002. This is technically incorrect. Those baggage cars ran for a few short years. Probably no more than...
Just heard from a friend who heard from an NS Georgia Div Conductor that the June 2&3 excursions have been amended to run Downtown Atlanta - Spring St to Forest Park and back on the C Line/former Central of Georgia mainline.
Only one problem there, folks. Only one out of five trains each way between NYP and Buffalo HAS baggage cars (48/49 Lakeshore Limited). I can't see Amtrak adding new baggage dorm or baggage cars to these typically five car Amfleet corridor trains. Baggage cars with bike racks were tried on Adirondac...
Dem new Talgo Cab cars....Dey be UUUUUUUUGLY, Mon!
Noting their plan is to go all the way to Tampa, is it safe to assume it will be in direct competition with Amtrak over CSX utilizing yet to be granted trackage rights? Heck, what about going all the way to Jacksonville and Tallahassee to serve the State Capitol?
Something else occurred to me. While I can't speak "Finance-ese", this may also be FEC's way of saying "Heck, yeah. We want Amtrak trains on our line! And we'll do anything to cajole or trick the powers that be into making the investment. We also want to be here awhile under the same ...
Quick prediction: All Aboard Florida will never happen. Amtrak on the FEC will......3 years max until it happens. Prediction based on what...? I just don't believe any new passenger railroad line will be built, not in Florida or anywhere. However, as I believe this to be a shrewd move on FEC's part...

My wife's ex-sister in law from a previous marriage called me last night and informed me that Lula Railroad Days in Lula, GA to be held May 5th has secured steam powered train rides between Lula and Gainesville, GA. I couldn't get more details other than they are looking for "train geeks" ...
At seat / bed meal service , from outside suppliers , would alleviate dining car pressure . or no meals included for sleeping car passengers . trains such as 66 / 67 could use sleepers , but dont run during mealtimes . Okay, one of the freedoms I've always liked about passenger trains is the abilit...
And your source for these photos so we can see too?

never seen Diner supplies in Bagage or Bagage dorm, is this new plan ? Not to anyone's stated knowledge. This is pure speculation based on the potential of the new Viewliner II Baggage Dormitory cars being manufactured in the near future. They provide extra space for storage. As most trains with ba...
The snack cars that amtrak uses now for the carolina trains, virgina trains and the train to georga and pittsburg in business class work well. None of them will be able to handle the tight angles though of the hallways in the viewliners. You can barely get a suitcase on wheels to navigate them... C...
