Re: D&H Alco PA's... in Detroit? In 1975?

Fast forward to 2014......in Stephen M.Timko's new Morning Sun Book Amtrak Power In Color there is a picture of one of the PAs at Detroit sandwiched between two Amtrak E-units with an RTG Turboliner a few tracks over to the right. The whole photo is mis-captioned as Montreal's Windsor Station in Aug...

I have been looking for information on former Napierville Junction (D&H Canadian Subsidiary) RS-2s 4050 & 4051. They went to Cuba in the early 80s as their 51501 & 51502. Would b interested in their operational history there. One Cuban site I found mentioned that they were not well used ...

I'd still like a source of multi-view specification or artist's concept drawings that will at least give us all an idea of what each kind of these new cars is going to look like. Amtrak's specs for the new corridor single level cars has been out for quite some time and yet they are being mum on these.

The window configuration is different than any previous Viewliner and, iirc, the first one off the line is supposed to be a Baggage Dorm.

Doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of passing if there are no male sponsors.

What, if anything, happened to Sunnyside Yard?
For that matter, was any part of Penn Station's platform areas flooded at any time?

Here's a question: how can you (does anyone) mix even 2-hourly 79pmh trains with standard intermodal freight speeds? Is there a comparable corridor that works well at serving freight nodes like Miami and FLL and at the same time runs decent-frequency passenger service? Seems to me that to have dece...

I'm with Gilbert. While I'm all for passenger trains, especially new ones, I'm NOT for them being used as a ruse to cover corporate financial problems. As soon as I first heard of this proposal, my B.S. meter started heading for the peg; now, it's pegged and threatening to snap the needle right off!!!

JetTrain! Wake up! Florida needs you!!!! (again) ;)

And now, with the smoke from this smokescreen clearing, maybe Amtrak can get something done on the FEC.

I think a lot of folks here are under the impression that all British trains are now "privatized" and financially on their own. That little experiment was a dismal failure proving that passenger rail is a public service that must be subsidized in some form or fashion.

Wow! I made it into an NS company photograph!!! Well, I'm somewhere about the middle of the Atlanta Whitehall St. bridge behind the train where I was filming it. Here's a link to my YouTube page:

It will probably be six to eight passenger coaches with 630 on the outbound end and the diesel on the inbound end. My friend says the official line-up is for four excursions on each day.
