Paul the M series cars techinicaly don't have Dynamic brake (its just called that by crews) LIRR and MNCR equipment runs in Blended brake. a combination of airbrakes and dynamic brakes guided by a micro processor (A-23 unit) that senses for speed - weight - brake feedback etc. Current FRA regulation...

it would also crank up the price by about a billion for 9 viaducts to replace the current 9 crossings and a tunnel in the 3.5 miles you just mentioned.
as far as those crossings are concerned if it inconviniences a motorist for 1 minute and 45 seconds to see a passenger train pass, to bad.

2012 and 2008 got re-activated for waterworld last fall.
the 2008 ended on a mini in Danbury but was pulled off and put back on standby duty.
the 2012 I don't think you will see in passenger service either.

Waterbury currently hasCDOT 2011 and 413 on shuttle.
Danbuy both shuttles had a CDOT unit.
Brewster has 410 on train CDOT2027 a spare
