Perhaps the lack of faster times are 1. Not all trains will be M8 sets initially, so the schedules still have to assume diesel speeds. 2. Is there any chance Amtrak will remove that one impediment to the 3rd rail shoes? Otherwise, how is MNRR going to get those cars for overhaul to the maintenance facility at Croton? Only thing I heard was Metro North is pushing back against removing the third rail shoes on some of the sets that will run SLE service. With good reason, I think. Kind of makes it a bit difficult to simply grab a trainset for one service or the other when needed if they have to segregate the fleet ...
