Some of them kept the gong bell on the front and the split windows, I thought there were other things that were part of the older look.

A plausible reason is that they didn't fit the mission of such a small museum, and they take up too much space. Hopefully IRM got some mechanical and cosmetic parts. I think most of the brown and orange cars still had a lot of the IC era exterior features which were changed with the silver paint sch...

I think the yellow-red-yellow stripe would look better if it went orange-brown, and was left off the front. :-)

I keep seeing phrasing such as that "this will create a transcontinental railroad". Isn't CP already transcontinental? This new "transcontinental" railroad may get better eastern ports, but still won't have any of the good western ports. I won't get excited about a real transcont...

The "duopoly" round of mergers that narrows the market down to two class I companies is bound to happen some day. CP's interest in merging at this time in the larger scheme of the stagnant and fragile economy seems precarious though, and it already looks like CP can't really afford it.

Metra was definitely running some cars with refreshment stands in the vestibules until the 2000s. I think there was a thread or post about their discontinuance. Some commuters now running unofficial daily drink specials.

More GPs sounds nice too.

You want a luxurious ride to work, drive a car.

I have been thinking about making a partial list of secondhand owners of Metra cars for a while. Or someone else can do it. :-) The Pullman/St. Louis cars and the retired group of Burlington Budds have ended up all over the place. I don't think AMT ever used the cars they got. I think some might hav...

The "F59C" sounds like what Metrolink wanted to do with a couple of F40PHs and SD60s. They wanted to have someone swap the guts. They actually did get no offers.

I hope no bids. Time to put the dinosaurs in a museum as is instead of messing them up with enviro crap.

Pretty much all rapid transit equipment everywhere gets truck delivered now. Either way, it can't get shipped rolling on its own wheels so loading and unloading is going to be a production no matter what. I've read that railroads don't like the liabilities and special care for such high valued cargo...

Locomotive L-202 at the Fox River Trolley Museum, which is on this year's museum calendar, was used to pull freight cars full of railroad ties and things like that in from the connection at the 63rd Street Yard. Before that, it was a locomotive on the streetcar system. Meanwhile, IRM has a locomotiv...

Nobody explained what a "team track" is. It's just a rail to truck transfer siding for shippers who don't have their own siding to pick up or drop stuff off. The term 'team' comes from when teams of horses were used. That's also where teamsters got the term.

Per train? That seems insane. Does train revenue even come close to $12,500?
