The former NS bottleneck in Indiana combined with the influx of North Dakota frack fuel trains certainly created some (very) "late for sure" scenarios on the LSL. Stalled outside of South Bend on Chicago bound awaiting new crew was a lowlight...

Did they run them pre Guilford or was that not yet "a thing" yet?

The sidings on this one track cyst um could be dicey?

The numbered lines makes more sense than the present color designations on the CTA. In Boston the colors work as the trains are actually the color of the given blue, green lines etc.

Is CSX's elimination of sidings on the water level route a symptom of PSR on steroids and could that potentially further slow down the LSL? Are there other freight hosted routes utilizing PSR that affect Amtrak in negative ways? Seems in some cases longer freights with less frequency could also enha...

I think we'll learn more in the fall with schools fully back in session and the summer vacation season over. I know plenty of people who are still working at home at least through the summer. Purely anecdotal, but it does appear auto rush hour volume has increased lately M-F. Many former public tra...

It was not uncommon into the early 90's to encounter maps in some green line stations that still showed the Lexington and Sudbury commuter rail branches as still active.

Mr. Geep, the OCRR from Stoughton converged with the B&P at Canton. I will concede to you that a single RDC thence operated to South Station over the now-electrified Amtrak NEC. Correction: I was referring to the long gone Mansfield to New Bedford OCRR/NH line, not the Stoughton Branch. Taunton...

Many moons ago and technology has evolved. That said, when the B&M, and NH etc incorporated RDC's into their freight heavy ROW's, what adjustments in signal and brake systems did they alter and if they did, is there anything that could be applied to DMU integration into modern railroads? Mr. Ge...

Such an acquisition would "ease" a phase out of the LD's - something that was supposed to start 45 years ago - by having scheduled substitute surface transportation under Amtrak's control.
And the trackless hounds would have sleepers, a cafe and legroom?
