If you need a place to stay, try the Red Caboose Motel, 312 Paradise Ln, Ronks, PA. Next door is the Model Railroad Museum, and Strasburg RR runs right by.

Didn't see it mentioned here, but Baltimore Streetcar Museum has PCC 2168 running the course. They also have PCC 2187 converted to a work car for line maintenance. They let me drive 2168, really neat!

Back in the 70s they were still running freight around Norfolk Naval Station. Tracks highly marked. Block a train, get your base parking permit pulled, 1 day per minute.

Started watching some video on youtube, about the Underground. Noticed a 4th rail, used as a ground, for the power. Any ideas why, since we widely use the running rails as the ground?

There was a lot of freight service in suburban Philly. A couple books:

Trolleys of Montgomery County, PA, by Harry Foesig and Harold Cox.

Montgomery County Trolleys, by Mike Szilagyi, Images of America books.

They're going to have extend the Metro to Caroline County so all the new employees making $15.00 an hour can commute in. They can't afford to live any closer.

The old GG-1 had an oil fired steam generator. Seems funny with all that electricity to use oil to heat water, but it's more efficient.
