I share your concern about the Dover Station roof. The City awarded the contract for the roof replacement to an out of town company with a completion date of December 1st, 2019. However, there was some kind of "bond" (performance?) issue with the contract. In addition, there is an issue wi...

I have a report from a good source that they have been trucking coal from the Schiller Generating Station along the Piscataqua River in Portsmouth/Newington to Bow. Coal arrives there by barge. Maybe 6-8 years ago, PAR ran a test train of 30 cars and two GP40s from Schiller to Bow. However, it turne...

Are you talking about full length platforms like Woburn and Brunswick? That will cost many millions of $$$. Haverhill has a mini-high platform with ramps that can be raised to accommodate hi-wide freight loads See the third photo down in the second column here: http://trainweb.org/usarail/haverhill....

The Dover station lease to a delicatessen is unlikely to appreciably reduce the city's expense of maintaining the facility. In the lease, there is some detailed computation on what the tenant will pay, mostly a portion of the utilities. In fact, the City maintains the main intent is to keep the stat...

That extra wide load probably would have not cleared the high level platforms (DE) on the single track at Exeter, Durham, Dover, Saco and Old Orchard. I am not sure if the MBTA has platforms at all the stations between Ballardvale and Haverhill that can be raised, Haverhill does.
