I bet they'd just stay with Amtrak. More options for different routes and seniority. Don't quite understand why they'd want to do that, though, considering Amtrak's high fees for track and catenary usage. They're paying a lot to them for the CTrail trains that run on the Hartford Line when they coul...

Yes weekend and night ridership is growing a lot. People want to travel and be entertained, what better way than taking the train to their destination?

Isn't the station in Phoenix still owned by Sprint (now T-Mobile)?

Yikes. Who would've predicted a train that isn't cheap and takes longer than driving while only having one run each direction once per weekend wouldn't do too well.

Maybe they should subsidize running more buses.

Yes, still operated by Amtrak crews.

They haven't even started actual construction yet?! What have they been spending all this time on then?

Checking tickets upon boarding instead of on board is a ridiculous waste of time and such a low-hanging fruit way to decrease travel times and increase OTP. Out here in the northeast, it is very common for Amtrak dwell times to be 1-2 minutes or less, and for commuter rail it's usually around 30 sec...

That's ridiculous. Maybe they should encourage TOD and actually have anything around the stations, and bring the schedule back. If the schedule sucks, of course the ridership will. Problem is single-family homes and NIMBYs, but the parking lots are absurdly large and could easily fit a couple hundre...

What? Where'd you hear this?

The Shore Line route is slow, curvy, and prone to flooding especially going into the future. I don't see why rerouting most service to the inland route shouldn't be explored.

IMO a bypass HFD-PVD would be nice, but costly.

They definitely recheck everyone's ticket in NYC during the absurdly long layover with the platform lights blinding you.

However, that issue is moot at the moment since the train is not running north of NYP.

No, they were just taken off. The cars don't switch around, as the third rail shoes need to be taken on and off.
