To comment on several posts: 1. The most reccently promised full length SAS is planned to provide for extension to Brooklyn, The Bronx, AND West Harlem. 2. As to Phase II getting built - it's on it's way - very slowly. tility realignment and more studies are planned to be done in 2019, to be followe...

I thought it was absolutely moronic to build a station in that location so deep. They should've have completely demolished the loop platforms and installed diamond crossovers to allow the 1 to terminate at Rector Street while they were building the new station. That way the new station could've bee...

To reply to something a few posts back - of course the Q side of Lex/63rd did not see revenue service until the start of SAS service. Those tracks stub ended at the East end of the station until Phase I was built. i do remember it well that trains ran between Queens and the Broadway line via 63rd St...

With regard to the one time Culver service along 36th Street, the current configuration of the Ditmas Avenue Station, going North includes that an open trackway without a track branhces off of the downtown track just south of the station which once provided shuttle trains with a convenient place to ...

Back then, pne didn't have to go the Queens Plaza - the E and F overlapped at 5th Avenue and Lexington Avenue. But definitely, when the M isn't running it will be a bother for F train riders to get to the Queens Boulevard Stations between Roosevelt Avenue and the river.

While I won't put energy into asserting that a track connection should be built between the Myrtle Avenue line and the Canarsie line because it would probably end up costing $4 billion and take 35 years to complete, I'm wondering why such a connection wasn't buuilt during original construction of th...

.... And would it still be possible to match the 2:15 NYC - Albany times that were achieved back in the Turboliner Empire State Express era? Those were the days for sure! And not just trip time -- think about turn around time. Now Empire trains have to loop out at Sunnyside, crossing LIRR traffic. ...

Definitely, it seems right that more emphasis should be placed onexpanding and improving rail travel. Part of that would address the several times dicussed issue of fixing the problem of why it now takes decades to build as much subway as used to take 5 to 10 years. (BTW Gilbert, on a point that you...

I agree that Robert Moses had too much power, and too much of an attitude that worthwhile regional development would be centered on automobile travel. I also wonder what can be done to remedy that now, as well as what can be done to speed the progress with which mass transport can be built.

I disagree with Emmanuel's remark about maintenance being more important than expansion. Of course a system is useless that can't provide reliable service. But it's just as important to provide service to all areas that require it. The Chicago mayor's rhetoric can be compared to having a New York ci...

i don't know the reason for this - but it's nothing new. From September 1979 - early 1981, the E had mostly R-10's while the F had mostly R-32's and some R-46's. Then it was R-46's on the F and R-32's on the E for a while.

It's been discussed at length that every NYA train has at least 2 engines. But is 4 engines totalling 7,000 horses really necessary for a small or a modest number of vars as described?

I've seen videos of NYNJ lcoomotives shoving cars into the 39th Street facility for SIMS. Why did they not botherr to build a runaround track or a loop so that a locomotive could pull under all cricumstance? That would be SAFER, espcially in street running.
