On the Watuppa the Colonial Beverage warehouse is still there with two tracks. It would be great if they could convince them to go back to rail. There was talk at one point of rehabbing track a few hundreds yards past the current end just past rt 88. This was to go to the Mid City Annex for delivery...

There was an IRAP grant for Gallo in Sagamore to rebuild their siding. They have track through a loading building that looks OK. It continues through their yard (never used?). I couldn't find what they are going to ship. Anyone heard?

Construction in Fall River beyond SCR. Brush clearing and cleanup along ROW into the yard and extending the track at the end of the runaround. There is also work at the adjacent demolished mill building on Ferry St. Drilling (soil samples?) and other activity. Youtube video https://youtu.be/bvJ7ezf...

I think they keep an ammonia car in there. It periodically goes to BOREMCO in Fall River to refill. Every couple months? I am sure someone else knows more.

More clearing this week past the end of in-use track in Fall River. Maybe they will rebuid 100 feet at a time? A clever way to avoid NIMBY interference?

I am sure it has had an impact but salt loading operation in Fall River is still there and has been used- I am not sure how much this winter. Once built it could be used for any bulk barge to rail loading.

I saw yesterday that they added stops on the rails so it looks like they are done for now. Added maybe 100 feet. But they are just the bolt on the end of the rail type so maybe more to come...

The rail continued along the water to India Point where it crossed the river. You can see the remains of the bridge in the middle of the marina across from India Point Park.

Maybe 10 years ago there were some cars sent to the scrap metal facility at https://goo.gl/maps/3NQXz3gYunF3KHpB7 Those were the first moves in many years on those tracks. It was done some time after the ethanol transload was built because they had to remove the bumper and add a gate at the end of t...

Southcoast Rail Videos has footage of testing new siding into former Revere Copper in New Bedford https://youtu.be/YJMInHpN81Q Exciting that business is picking up around that yard with the frozen seafood too. On that same YT page there is a vid of a new siding going in for Parallel Products in the ...

It may have been used for transformer deliveries in the 90's. There was a Boston Edison facility there. In the 2013 South Station Expansion layover analysis it was considered for a layover yard (one of many options). Maybe once it was ruled out the siding was no longer worth keeping?

I live in the area. I know people that drive to Lakeville to take train currently that would do it from FR/NB if they had the option. My concern is not the time. As someone that has commuted to Boston off and on for 30 years I can tell you that a reliable 90 minutes would be OK vs 1- 2+ hours. Espec...
