Based on the response to this thread, I'm not sure we will be able to field enough people to charter a train. We can meet at a regularly scheduled excursions.

Oh, Boy ... speaking of GCT & The Campbell strikes a nerve . . . Just checked, it's OPEN! When I found trip suggestion, I wrote it all out in a travel book (to visualize all connections) and I think I ended up at the Oyster Bar , which never gets old for me. However, had forgotten about The Camp...

There was this gentleman who created railfan excursions, "Ride We Me Henry". He even had hats for his group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/477532115697036 He lived in NY Southern Tier, near Binghampton, and would rise at O Dark Thirty, and drive to either Netcong NJ or Port Jervis NY, an...

Yes, Thank you, this is a good suggestion. This brings to mind more options -- In our conversations on Dover Harbor, and then on the Ethan Allen, we considered a railfan trip on Dover Harbor, which calls WAS it's home, this way we don't require a position move. From WAS, the idea of a "Boston G...

Hey Jeff,

Would our fellow members of Railroad.net be interested in a railfan excursion in the Spring of '24?

I know I'm interested . . .

Thanks,
Mark

Makes the most sense to me to be in Rockland, I have wanted to go for Lobster Fest for many years, and while Amtrak offers bus service, it seemed a letdown from taking Acela to Boston, then the Downeaster. I wanted to participate in the network extension, and show support for their efforts. ( https:...

Wanted to suggest a RAILROAD.NET meetup in Maine, would be great PR for the website . . . You've seen "Ride With Me Henry" on facebook... he organizes railfan outings from Southern NY.

I sent an email inquiry to Janice Mcneal, VP Marketing & Sales, asking "When can we buy tickets?", and she referred me to Deb Fox, Manager of Passengers & Special projects, and here is Deb's reply: >SNIP< We are still working on a schedule for Maine, moving the equipment, etc. The ...

This new connection attracts interest from several states away, and will increase the value of each of the stops. Living in New Jersey, I would like to ride this historic equipment, and take a ride on the Downeaster. I've been considering this trip for some time, when the Maine Eastern was running, ...
