What type of equipment? MU or PP?
Middle management was telling upper management for about the past 20 years that the engineers had to be involved in the OJT training. OJT training was where the engineer training came to a standstill. SEPTA upper management refused to acknowledge the issue. Now, with a change at the top level, they ...
I believe the trucks were all manufactured in central Pennsylvania, somewhere near York PA.
I believe the S and R signs you are referring to are for possible flooding conditions. ( Special Instruction FS-1.) They have nothing to do with PTC.
Temporary speed restrictions (TSRs) will be sent to the train using the half mile posts at each end of the restriction. Road crossing that are out of service will use the road crossing's specific mile marker and will bring the train to a mandatory stop some 50 feet prior to the crossing. In layman's...
Word around 1234 is that Seimens is looking good for the new locomotives.
The new mileposts signs you see are in whole mile and half mile increments and are part of the PTC wayside installation program. Train Dispatchers will be using whole mileposts as well as the half mile markers to input speed restrictions or work zones into the PTC computers. Start date is 12/31/15. ...
I stand corrected on the catanery issue in Boston. But the Rotem cars are still too high for SEPTA territory. I'm sure they're still looking to bid for the SEPTA multilevels in the future with the appropriate heights.
"That's great to hear ;)....has SEPTA started doing their measurements for the multi levels and tunnels and bridges ? This really makes me happy. Some new rolling stock. I would so love a SIEMENS locomotive in SEPTA LIVERY. sammy2009" The Bombardier multilevels at NJT will fit today on the...
The proposal for the new locomotives should hit the market in the next month or so, with a response time by suitable vendors by September. As of now, Seimens and Bombardier are the top contenders. As for the multi-levels, they may hit the market by November / December.
Also a beautiful day watching Amtrak 644 at Cynwyd today as well!
I heard today that Amtrak #644 made a slight detour to Cynwyd today on its way to NYC. Anyone have any pictures?
SEPTA cannot wait until 2015 to make a decision on locos. That would push back any new loco delivery until 2018-19 at the earliest. They need to make the decision by this Jan. to have the Sprinter locos sometime in 2016. The AEM-7s are quickly running out of their useful life.
Spares?
Currently SEPTA is looking into purchasing or leasing up to 10 Amtrak Sprinter locomotives from the builder. It's true the AEM-7s don't have much of a future around here due to their age, but with new locomotives at the helm, the coaches (after refurbishing) should still have life left in them.
