Actually I did comply with the ID fuguring that if I did not, a police cruiser would show up...although I knew I was doing nothing wrong....I had not shot from the bridge in years....at least 10....

I was up on the Bear Mountain Bridge shooting pics of the Riverline...was on bridge from 9am until about 1 or 130pm. At about 1pm a NY DOT pickup pulls over and a female employee asked me if I was ok...I said I was fine..and that I was photographing trains. She then asked me if I let the bridge auth...

Posts on Facebook show pictures of demolition equipment arriving on scene at Bens Bridge as of 10/6/15..so it appears that the bridge removal will begin any time now.

There was a public hearing in July that was posted about on Facebook....Bens Bridge is scheduled to be torn down by the end of 2015 including the approach ramps....Local legislature voted to allocate funds for the demolition...No replacement bridge will be built.

The Haverstraw supersiding is now in service...I spent a few hours trackside at the Stony Point Battlefield Park last Sunday...The park straddles the River Sub Main....On that day, MOW had removed CP35 from service...tearing out the switches and removed the old signals and signal shanty and realigne...

On March 24, 2010. the NS F units needed to be serviced at Cresson prior to the OCS trip to the Masters Golf Tournament in Georgia... I have recently purchased an analog to digital converter and can also convert older Hi-8 videos to digital for internet uploading...

Altoona Railfest 1998....the final Railfest before Conrail turned over the railroad to NS...

I can give you a GPS track of the route of the Spiral Railway if it will help you find interesting bits. I have a GPS track of the Walkway, too, if anybody wants it. :-) It's kinda straight. I explored sections of the roadbed on the Timp trail as well as the R-D trail....a portion of the R-D trail ...

Yes, the Tomkins Cove plant was torn down.....I just dug out an old issue of Railpace dated July 2008...which featured an article on the shutdown of the Mirant-Lovett Generating Station at Tomkins Cove, NY...The generators were shut down on April 19th, 2008. The C712 does serve customers in Haverstraw in the CP33-35 area as well as in the CP22-26 Orangeburg area...I don't know the names of the Orangeburg area customers, but the primary customer in Haverstraw is Beckerle Lumber which is located alongside Rte 9W.

As a side reply....The coal fired powerplant no longer exists at Tompkins Cove...It closed downa couple of years ago before being torn down....
