oh, bring back the streetcar and reach out to all those car drivers. Then you can dump all them parking lots and put business/apartments above whatever. Wrigley field contantly brings in 40,000+ every game and not everyone can get there via automobile, you have to take the CTA and it works, well, yo...

I think there are some elements of the South Shore that are lost, like the Downtown South Bend street running and the East Chicago street running, and some smaller freight services. In contrast, we're seeing some resurgence, like Norfolk Virginia reviving the former Norfolk Southern electric line ar...

There was a Bailey siding east of Baileytown that was removed in the forties. In the mean time a few team tracks removed. Some existing sidings are long enough for freight trains to have a double track effect.

Ft Wayne and Co. want the trains back, the Valpo run could return as the tagalong deal. NICTD had plans for Valpo but decided on Dyer. I thought I heard Metra or something expressing interest in a line just west following the IL/IN border in Illinois, so the area is a hotbed of interest for rail pas...

The aerodynamics of an empty makes sense as the full load the air won't swoom around in the car, when the coal drag is moving it has its own weight of inertia to keep moving and the mounds of coal produce reduced aerodynamics with some streamlining effect. May as well make new coal cars with closeab...

makes me wonder what the Venango boys are doing today...not going to argue why they ran an 8 car train for their daughter since they owned the show... I recall a story on the South Shore someone without a ticket was lead to the car exit, the train stopped at the next platforms, and was booted out of the car into waiting policeman hands. More than likely the authorities were contacted and the homeless man directed off or perhaps led off or whatever...

I have to correct some info, car 74 was at the south shore south bend yard and was used by a model railroad club, members had to go to WW2, came back with the trucks gone body placed on cement supports, warped body and layout, they abandoned the car. 74 was moved near the airport as a diner, later a...
