I guess that makes sense, with that orientation it will have the two sides that use to face the rails facing towards Ash Swamp Road.
Have they moved the Rockingham Junction station yet? I was there at the end of August, and the operator's addition and clapboards had been removed from the station and the new foundation looked complete.
Probably be five grade crossing incidents before drivers learn that trains will be MUCH faster. Back when I was a fresh-faced young man in the 90's, I drove for UPS. One of the things I can never unsee is the wreckage of some kind of Buick that was driven through the Central Ave., Dover crossing ga...
I think that the 495 overpass/bridge with the clearance issues in the one that crosses the tracks and the Merrimack at Sutton Street in North Andover.
UPS has a small distribution center in Wells, Maine, and it has existing rail access (which they've never used AFAIK). The site also has huge expansion potential. If they wanted to do something there, there's plenty of room. It's right off the PAR mainline and less than a mile from I-95. The center...
When I worked for UPS (back in the 90's), Chelmsford was the hub that sorted all traffic except for air packages coming into and out of New England, so I don't think there would be traffic out of Maine.
Yes. Whoever buys Pan Am will keep this branch. There still a good amount of revenue/movement it seems and they are moving lots more LPG of late too. Also this line links up the Navy Yard via the bridge. Regardless of the traffic the Navy insisted the rail connection remain with the rebuilt Sarah M...
Thanks! The last time I was there in person it was grey with white trim, at least what I could see from Ash Swamp Road. Looks good in maroon and yellow.
In the second drone picture, the station looks like its been completely painted maroon and yellow. When did that happen?
Why tie down at Highliner? The yard is only a couple of miles further. Is this some way to address the complaints about the noise and fumes from the locomotives?
Perhaps it can become a sub-forum under CSX. As a lifelong New Englander who moved south of the Mason-Dixon line for a job offer for my wife that was simply too good to pass up (we still own land in the Upper Valley of NH), its nice reading about the goings on with Pan AM.
I was saddened to read on their Instagram page that their roundhouse cat, Cinders, was found dead a couple of days ago.
Do they still have a crew working out of there? I can remember delivering to them back in the 90's, out behind Hampshire Controls on Grove street.
Yes, that's Martin Rd right by the farm. Which, by the way, is where they hold snowmobile grass drag racing in the fall. Back in the 90's the rails were still in the road, but gone from the right of way.
