While the Bike trail group continues to push for track removal the opposite is already in process. MassDOT has phase one of the Bourne Rail with trail project construction scheduled on the State CIP list starting in 2025. Once it starts the BRT's fantasy dream is over as phases #2 and #4 are present...

I'm sure the Bike path group will be present to voice t...

Looking forward to seeing Tom Cahir / Bourne Rail trail group / Bourne Select board eat crow :-D when MassDOT phase 1 of the Bourne Rail with trail construction starts in 2025, while further rehabilitation work continues on the Falmouth line. They actually will have to see it under construction to b...

The CCRTA headed by Tom Cahir who portrays himself as pro rail with the Cape Flyer has put his full support behind the Bourne Rail Trail group in its agenda to remove the Falmouth Secondary Rail line. He has really gone off the deep end thinking that MassDOT / Federal government / JBCC National Guar...

Otis news today: Brush cutting is being done along the Otis double track RR siding next to the Falcon Golf course area leading to the transfer station, while the WYE track and Military line still look untouched so far.

The Fly ash was rich in vanadium making it valuable, so Bay Colony began shipping it to Oklahoma to be refined by US Vanadium. Later Gallo Construction was retained by Canal Electric to construct a building to keep the ash from blowing over to the neighboring marina. See info on page 8 Canal Electri...

The last photo from 2018 explains it all as it has sat unused for quite some time. If I get a chance, I'll take a new look at it to see if anything has changed recently as there hasn't been any local news about it being used for any purpose. http://photos.nerail.org/showpic/?photo=201806101114113106...

This would have been a good year to extend the Cape Flyer season as the Bourne Bridge is being reduced to 1 lane each way for maintenance starting September 18th. Could have been a big help with the traffic congestion that always comes with maintenance on the Canal bridges.

Article in Cape Cod Times about the unfortunate Cape Flyer accident last night. Not a good way to end the seasonal service for sure as the Train always wins when trespassers ignore the warning signs. Still, it certainly could have been avoided for sure. Not much details about it so far but certainly...

Was reviewing the Rail section pages A-156 to A-172 of the MassDOT 2024 to 2028 Capital Investment Program and there is plenty of work planned for the Cape Main / Falmouth Secondary / Dennis Secondary RR lines, along with all the other State lines. The State certainly is planning on continued use of...

Here on Cape Cod I have never seen any law enforcement department stop and tell people to get off the tracks / bridges unless someone files a complaint in which they will investigate the incident. But I have seen Mass Coastal employees and contractors inform people in a professional manner that they...

Unfortunate pedestrian death in Wareham from trespassing on Wareham narrows RR bridge. Bridge is next to a crossing with functioning signals & train was sounding it's horn giving plenty of warning to just jump into the water, as he could have saved his own life. People just don't seem to learn f...
