Hanford Rail Operations

Sitting around bored and found a couple youtubes about plutonium production at Hanford, WA. They used a couple of shielded locos and cars to move spent fuel from the B reactor to the "Queen Mary" processing plants. Neat stuff, but a long lasting legacy. They have put on display two locos and two spe...

Re: Locomotive cabs

Took the grandson out yesterday to ride the Sunrail in Orlando, FL. Cruised from Winter Park to Kissimmee, cab end controls, then Kissimmee to Debary, engine in front. Coming back from Debary we sat up front next to the control cab. Door was open, so we could see the driver work. Engine is a MPI MP3...

Rail crew Transportation

Hi gang. Stumbled on a part time job as a crew driver, which I guess means picking up timec out crews and taking them back to base or to hotels. Some over night travel, able to lift 50 lbs, so I'm guessing you have to carry their bags? Anyone have any insight on the job? I'm a retired cop/paramedic,...

Re: Train Fight....

I was watching some London Transport shows on one of the Netflix Hulu channels,. One of the episodes talked about the Saturday Ale Trail, where a bunch of guys go from town to town. Gets a little rowdy.

Then, there are the soccer games.

Re: Carl Hiassen calls Miami to Orlando plan "crazy" and says Branson has lost his marbles

This odd, indirect route has angered many residents of Indian River and Martin counties, through which the high-speed trains are scheduled to pass 32 times a day. Those seeking to block the project cite noise and safety concerns, plus the potential hindrance to first-responders stuck at railway cros...

My neighbor is a Brit from Manchester. Bunch of us in the court were going out one night to hit a couple microbreweries, so we asked him. I called it the Ale Trail. He asked where the train was. Huh? Seems this is a Brit tradition, bunch of guys get on the local trains and hit pub after pub. Anyplac...

Re: How did you become a fan?

Like all little kids, TRAINS!! Big (to me) O gauge Lionel train set with attached electrically lit village at Christmas. Grandfather rode the Reading Chestnut Hill into town every day. When I was good, I could stay the weekend with them, so we travelled by train. Franklin Institute and the Baldwin 6...
