What does this work entail besides some new crossovers to allow the Belmont moves? Will the existing signal towers be removed?

Everyone - New track numbers at Floral Park Station effective March 8, 2021: Platform A will serve Track M3; Platform B will now serve Track M1 on the Main Line. Platform B will now serve Track H1 west; Platform C will serve Track H2 east on the Hempstead Branch. http://web.mta.info/supplemental/li...

It looks like the first phase of this station (opening 2021) will service eastbound Hempstead trains only. The second phase (opening 2023) looks like it will primarily service eastbound and westbound Hempstead trains at all times with additional Main Line trains making limited stops before and after...

Parallel Tracks on a Curve

I'm curious as to the typical way parallel tracks are run through a curve. For example, say you have a single track and you'd like to add a parallel track with 14'-0" track centers on tangent. On a 3 degree curve you'd like to increase track spacing to 14'-6" - how would you reach that 14'...

The currently four tracked section to Floral Park can support quite a bit more service than in currently sees. The Heampstead trains are nowhere close to saturating the south two tracks. Hempstead and OysterBay may see no gains in service, but there is no way they will see reductions in service. Th...

There's no doubt that this project would be a boon to parts of Eastern Nassau County and Suffolk County. What remains unknown, however, is how this project would affect the neighborhoods and lines through which the new third track would pass through. Until a plan is released, it's impossible to make...

With the revised project scope consisting of a third track from Floral Park to Hicksville, what is the railroad's plan for the current Hempstead Line between Queens Interlocking and Floral Park? At the very least, it appears that Bellerose station would have to be reconstructed as the island platfor...
