On the cab under the name of the locomotive it says "Serving New England Passengers with Pride". Is this a new slogan?
Looked at a few other VTR freight locomotives and the slogan is "Serving American Industry with Pride". I wonder if there is more to this story.....

I'm seeing more videos, this time two different end loading ramps at what appear to be stations. Is this circus style? One was a improvised looking thing out of rough timbers and railroad ties. The other looked planned and was made from what looked like recently poured concrete walls. This is surrea...

Because of the trouble in the Ukraine there have been quite a few videos recently of Russian armor loading and unloading from flat cars. Seems to be very simple platforms or embankments slightly lower than the flats. Are these purpose built depots? Makes me wonder how loading and unloading is done i...

Just read an interesting piece in Railway Age https://www.railwayage.com/mechanical/locomotives/new-emd-power-for-mongolia/ about Progress/Cat locomotive sales in Mongolia. This picture shows the new track structure and they are mixing one concrete tie, then four wood ties. Why do you suppose they'r...

Was just admiring the new mini tamper on the WW+F Facebook page. What an incredibly good and kind gift. On to Waterville! Interest in this Australian line caused me to look around a bit and I found this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c78JkwQv1h8 of one of Wilmar's competitors. Interesting ope...

What kind of money do you suppose we're talking about? I guess you could value east of Ayer around half or less of the PAS portion. Also I wonder if Mr Mellon is anticipating needing the cash to support his other businesses or if this has been in the works for a while.

I emailed GoLabs about rail shipping and this was the reply "Thank you for your email and interest in GO Lab. I haven’t heard about any plans to restore rail service in Madison, but there may be a need." This is a small cutting edge startup so it will be several years before they can prove...

As events develop at GE this looks like a better and better deal for WABTEC and GETS and their employees . A take over by an experienced industry leader is the best possible thing for them. CAT/EMD is sort of drifting leaving GETS as the last real American freight locomotive builder it seems. The WA...
