Based on the timings shown it might be a good train for day trips from North Bay and points south to Toronto and back the same day, although that would be strictly VIA territory. Might that be a reason for the schedule, while also fitting in with maintenance needs at Timmins or Cochrane?
I think Twin Cities would work.
That would have made the news (and social media) for sure, with all those tourists on board. Maybe failure to seat properly when closing after an opening? That seems to be a problem with old bridges.
A question has arisen on another forum about whether some railroads have speed restrictions at stations with high platforms. As an example, what is the MAS on the Montauk Branch between Jamaica and Babylon (other than curves, bridges. etc.), and do any speed restrictions apply to trains not stopping...
Possibly Mr. ExCon, Deere wanted to get their farm tractors to the Port of Brunswick in time to make the sailing the Times' reporter was covering, and that they will revert to rail transportation as the pipeline gets filled again. Very likely; if the ship's sailing from Brunswick on a given date th...
And through the years there have been plenty of collisions due to failure to comply with signal indications with two people in the cab and sometimes three or four.

1. What's a #20 good for? 45 mph?
2. Couldn't they just run the expresses through on the straight route? Plenty of operations with high platforms do that.
I'm pretty sure Metrolink dispatches everything from a control center somewhere around Pomona (used to be in Glendale), and at one time BNSF and UP each had a dispatcher sitting in so that everyone knew what was coming at them; I'm not sure whether that's still the practice. In any event, all partie...

There it is; 135th St. on the street sign.
"[S]teps to prevent [accidental deaths]" should include an element of personal responsibility on the part of the individual most directly concerned. Best not to leave it to the authorities to look after you. By the way, the Erie Stillwells vestibules didn't even have doors, just door openi...
