Allen, It’s interesting, how EMD/GM’s accessibility to certain parts albeit from a complete different mode of transport is used to save the almighty dollar, but then again, if it works why not! Also of interest is early GE U-series had AC transmission in the mid 60’s and delayed its use in their pro...
Thanks for that Dutchrailnut.
Hi again, At work we have a couple of J26C's AKA 422 classs loco's (Export boxcab SD38's) with a D32 main gen and when I kick her over, (I think) the main battery reverses the main gen to kick her over (reluctantly) and after I prime her and turn the start switch clockwise from “prime” to “start” sl...
Ha Ha,
Thanks for the reply,
Wow i did'nt realise that different railroads use different pressures and four axles and six axle's have different pressures.

Hi again, I was wondering if anyone had any in-cab photos of the Kennecott Copper GP39-2's with the raised cab? I have seen alot of converted ones with the cab lowered but they still seem to have a shallower Mansard style roof with slight overhang on each side. Also why they raised cab? anyhelp would...
I know this doesn’t help but the two that Revelstoke Limited LLC converted to Luxury Locomotive Lodge's are an insult if you ask me!, what a waste! Montana rail link which acquired some in 1993 have sold theirs displaced by the SD70ace's and according to LocoPhoto's forum their are no more in regula...
Hi All, A little off the subject does anyone know why they only run a max of 27psi in their brake cyl pressure?,(reading the sticker on top of the windshield) as normal emd's we have at work have 47psi (325kpa)for independent brake cylinders and 72.5 psi(500kpa) train pipe exept the GT46Ace we run 7...
Its an SD65!!!!!!!, nah, just kidding!, I did notice the impact resistant fuel tank refit though, Love those flares.Nice
Then that sounds like a plausible explanation : If the autostart process already blows the cylinders, then so doing so manually is duplicate effort (and wear/tear) ... - litz From what I read, the desired engine starting setup procedure (prior to actual start) includes putting the fuel injection sw...
Hi I believe these use 4 EMD D29 Traction Motors as they are a 1bo-bo1 with an Gm D14 main Gen and with Delco A8102 aux gen.coupled with the 12-567c.
The frame was made lighter to reduce axle load as well as spreading the weight over 6 axles.
Dear EMDPOWER75,
Please forgive my belated reply,
But not my gratitude and again thankyou for your reply it sheds light on my question and seems you guys have the same sort of problems we do down here! if only AC and DC could just get along!
Hi all, Its been a while since my last post,as I have started a new job after nearly 2 years of searching! Anyway I ended up getting a job as trainee Locomotive engineer(train driver, level one) to my luck(its only taken me 22 years of trying!) anyway I digress,I was wondering if any railroads have ...
