Cool, I wish they'd run it on the west line again. Maybe 614......

Note to Metra: Hello!! You have a reliable locomotive or two here. Rebuild them and use them. They're better than the new junk. The only reason they guzzle more fuel than an MP36 is because their prime movers are actually running.

Messing around with MSN Bird's Eye, I have located some of the F40C's at Helm in East St. Louis:

http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&F ... &encType=1

By panning around you can see photos taken at different times with the locomotives parked in various different arrangements. I can spot no more than five at a time, one with its top popped and probably missing its prime mover. While rrpicturearchives.net has some photos of them as recently as 2007 ( keithsd45.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=770495 ), I would say they are almost certainly deceased by now.

Thanks.

Oh well, at least there's still two of them. And they're running. Who would have thought...

Its really sad to see them sitting down in East St. Louis. Metra could defanatly use them. Today 3/25/09 611 was on train # 2141 to Fox Lake and returining on 2156 and out on 2157 and tied up in Fox Lake for the night.

Oh, I tried posting my short video there, but it was rejected due to "poor camera movement". Heck, there's virtually no movement. I was on the platform trying to stay out of people's way.

Does anyone know a better place where they are more lenient (or less snobbish)?

Hi F40C fan start a you tube page the videos are not screened and dont have to be approved. Its also free and just takes a few minutes to sign up. I would love to see your videos we need more F40C footage.

Maybe the real reason for the rejection was because the screener doesn't like the C's, you never know. Try it with an MP next time (don't worry, I won't hold my breath waiting for THAT to happen) :-)

Does anyone have any recent info on train assignments for 611? I'm headed out to Rondout Tuesday to catch her if i can. I saw that she was on 2141, 2156, and 2157. These are evening trains. How about the morning rush and afternoon? Thank you in advance, i look forward to seeing her back in service.

Tonight 611 ran on MD-W, train #2237.

They must be moving it around a lot then, because it was not on 2237 last night (03/31), because I waited for it. 2237 had a Winnie and regular F40PH mu'd. 2235 and 2239 had boom-boxes.

It was supposed to be on 2231 on Monday, but switched with 2237's set due to equipment issues.
