The SEPTA PZ Express
During the 1800s, when construction of the Philadelphia Zoo was reaching a feverish pitch, another fantastic invention was nearing completion: the transcontinental railroad. Finally, the developed eastern seaboard and the rough-and-tumble west would be linked. Today, our youngest visitors can share in the excitement of this grand Victorian accomplishment with a quaint ride on our very own PZ Express, a charming reminder of the Zoo's Victorian heritage.
