Usually equipment from the Downeaster is brought to Southampton Yard in Boston, via the Grand Junction connection. I'd be amazed if they take stuff out to Albany for inspection.

Mostly uneventful day until NS 172 climbs the hill with the lead unit belching smoke and flames. Raced to the first overpass to get a better shot of this spectacle but the motor shutdown at MP 194. sadness prevailed

01/02/14 Second day of the New Year, went out to Inwood Hill Park to catch my first Lake Shore Limited of 2014. A light snow had fell since New Years and the last vid. Enjoy!

For my 800 Subscribers on Youtube, I added this little something I've wanted to share for awhile now. Some of you were too young to watch this or never knew this great footage exised. It's from The Girls Next Door - season 2 ep. San Diego or Bust! In this episode Hef takes his girlfriends, Kendra, Holly, and the other one to San Diego to visit Kendra's mom. They ride aboard the Scottish Thistle on the back of the Pacific Surfliner(probably the Amfleet one). Along the ride you see Superliners, Amtrak mailcars, GE Dash-8, California cars, Norfolk Southern, Santa Fe, BNSF, tank cars, double stacks, hi-railers, and the Coaster. After watching the 1st rail scene if you cue to 2:40 then again at 5:40 you can skip the non-rail scenes from the show. Enjoy

01/10/14 Another cold January morning, I noticed around 10 am that it was snowing hard and the snowflakes were big. I was hanging out with my BF and I took him on his first railfan outing into Inwood Hill Park! Empire Service 233 was due to arrive next. At first he was distracting me in a nice way, and made me move by accident. Once I scolded him he started holding my arms to steady the cam which was really sweet You see Amtrak 233 meet Metro North Local train 750. After the Amtrak waits for the switch it speeds off. Notice the severe ice flows along the Hudson River. Enjoy!

01/21/14 Day after my bday went to Inwood Hill Park to get the Lake Shore Limited and got a two for one! What I didn't realize were the single digit wind chills and a blizzard until I reached the end of the park! Enjoy!
