And what's our impression of how "Winter Ready" the HSPs will be? In terms of: they know what went wrong and can fix/adapt it (this may, or may not, be the same as the post-production mods now going on).

My sense is that theyve been doing OK from a "Heat Wave Ready" standpoint (haven't heard of any "hot" crises to go with last winter's "cold" ones)

There are four HSP46's in Middleboro. Please note that this was after an extra of four HSP46's ran out of Middleboro taking three HSP46's with it.

I'll bet that those barn door-sized radiator vents probably help a bit in the heat. I've never seen a passenger locomotive that you could quite literally see through, and the cooling equipment on these still looks totally nuts compared to the EMD locos.

And I was under the impression that 2-strokes tended to run hotter than 4-strokes, too.

For both types of engines, the new emissions standards require significantly more cooling capacity than in the past. That's why on the freight side you're seeing EMD ECO rebuilds with radiators massively larger than before, even for the 8-cyl and 12-cyl repower packages.

I've noticed 2005 has been in the shop for some time now (since March I think). What was the problem(s) with that particular unit?

Was the 2005 one of the 1st batch of HSP-46's that made it east to MBTA,gather there're major
quailty control issues to clean up on that unit! :(

Somebody graduated into the accepteds over the last couple days. NETransit shows only 7 to go.

2028 perhaps? I saw it at BON this afternoon and it was squeaky, shiny clean. Not even any soot above!

According to NETransit, the 34th HSP has been accepted. Has anyone spotted which one it is?

I just rode home from work behind a very clean 2019. It looks like there's only 5 left to be put in service, according to NETransit.

You sure it wasn't the 2018? NETransit still says 6 units unaccepted with 2019 being one of them.
