You can all bash the old PRR signals all you want
The many different aspects being displayed on any given signal may not make sense to all but it does to the engineer and trainmen.
Which way you are going at the next switch if there is a train ahead etc.
and you do not need color lights to know the condition of the block ahead.
our system takes care of that.

Stop and proceed= Train in block

Approach= train in next block

Approach Medium= train in second block

Clear= minimum three blocks clear
with the "success" of the NORAC rules on other railroads???
I will be glad to requalify on an old PRR signal than any other

I think the PRR signals are good.

And as said, if they can do the job correctly and safely there is no need to change them

Chanding the signals and rules means re training crews on the new rules.

weather there norac or what ever else is out there.

1950 i think was the the worse year for the LIRR and i dont think it had to do with the postion light signals.

more or less the human interface witch can still screw things up today. only it might be a hell lot worse.
